
This is Rusty. A major budget build for giggles to see how fast I could run with the parts provided. It's an 88 shadow with a 2.2l turbo2 engine out of a 89 daytona. It has a doublewide intercooler made by myself. 5th injector setup on a pressure switch. Map sensor cutout raiser. 3" exhaust. Stock engine, head, turbo, manifolds, etc. 20psi boost. Fake K&N. Fully built trans by myself, all work done by myslef. She runs 14.05 @98mph with a 2.4 60ft on cooper cobra 205 60r15S.
I bought it for $500.00 & it came with 2 engines, TI & TII. I went for the TII. Basically I had to replace & rebuild everything. The trans with several mods, new fuel pump, injectors(TII), shocks, struts, wheel bearing,etc.
It has the stock Garrett TII turbo with the 2.5" swingvalve. The major mods that I noticed the most power gains were;
1) The doublewide intercooler. BIG difference in the 18-20psi range.
2) The 3" exhaust, cat delete. I thought initially 3" was going to be too big for 2.2L, but the turbo acts as the needed backpressure.
These 2 mods took me from a 14.7 @ 93mph to a 14.05 @ 98mph. I had the stock TII intercooler & the stock 2.25" exhaust on before & 18 psi before to 20psi now. My 60fts. suffered on the 14.05 run= 2.4 & the 14.7 run was 2.25. This is due to the extra power & when it comes in, it comes in hard enough to transfer weight off the front tires=wheelspin. I even have one airshock on the left rear to aid in traction, but I need some better tires.
