Has it really been a little over a year since I bought my Ti? Purchased at the end of Last August to replace my wrecked Hyundai Tiburon, this little hatch has come a long way in a short amount of time. Especially if you consider that it is my Daily Driver.
I always loved BMW's Funky little hatch. I know a lot of the harcore Bimmerheads would rather see the Ti swept under the rug and never talked about again, I feel they are missing out on one of the bargan performance cars in our time.
Unlike the larger bodied E36 cars, the Ti comes with the older E30's Semi-Trailing arm real suspension. While not as "safe" as the Z axle on the others, it is a lively and communicative suspension that never fails to let you know what it is doing. Just do not even think of lifting off of the throttle in a hard corner or it will come around to bite.
This is a trait the Ti shares with the Z3 Roadster and Coupe'.
So, now onto my 1996 318ti Sport. Painted in BMW's Beautiful Calypso Red, my little hatch has traveled 20,000 miles since I bought her. In that time the entire suspension (except for the rear subframe and passenger side semi-trailing arm) have been replaced, the car was fitted with an M technic Front bumper, ZKW elipsoidal headlights, Hella Micro DE foglights, and HIDs all around.
How she looked last August:

Not too much to see, just a stock 318ti that is sitting far too high on it's wheels. I can only guess that she had the "rough road" suspension option that BMW did sell. Bear with me, the modification are coming on the next page.
