2nd time to the track at Luskville. Need a new clutch and a set of tires.
This is my time slip from that run, I hope next season to get into the 13s. I had one or two other runs that day where I trapped 14.5@102mph, lots of room to improve, especially that 60'.
This is the initial engine pull and turbo install back in April 2007
Heres the 8000K HIDs at night along with the fiberglass full replacement pillar from Compact Divisions.
I removed the power steering system out of my car. I didnt feel it necessary for my final goal with the car. I pondered removing the AC as well but on those hot days I really dont like sticking to the leather.
***UPDATE: 1 Oct 08***
I will be leaving on course on Saturday until December so the car is going into storage until spring. I purchased an SMT-6 fuel tuner and turbo box today in preparation for the new boost setup in the spring. Many more updates to come as I go from N/A to F/I once again.
***UPDATE: 28 Aug 08***
Tonite the 'new' motor goes back into the car, work will commence in the next few months to bring it back to a boosted setup. Lots of new stuff to come, cant wait to get my boost back!
***UPDATE: 21-24 Aug 08***
Well this is the end of the line for my current turbo setup, I am removing it this weekend and selling it to a friend of mine so he can enjoy the boost dream for a little while. The car will be going into storage immediately after the removal and the winter beater will be out so I can begin working on it for the upcoming crap season.
***UPDATE: 15 Aug 08***
Don't think there are going to be many more mods this summer, but once the car goes away there will be changes for sure...So one last cleaning and some quality time with the Boa.
***UPDATE: 8 July 08***
Two pics from recent outings, nothing new to the car just out and about.
***UPDATE: 24 Apr 08***
My brakes arrived today, EBC rotors with Raybestos semi metallic pads, they will be installed over the weekend. I also got my other 3 rims back, ordered 2 new tires that hopefully can be here tomorrow.
They are OEM size but have much better stopping power than the solid vented OEM brakes. Cant believe I went this long without ever doing a brake upgrade.
Front and Rear brakes installed
Old and busted rotors
***UPDATE: 14 Apr 08***
I was having some brake issues so I ordered a full set of cross drilled and slotted rotors with pads, they will be here on Monday. I also need a new turbo now and an SMT-6 for tuning...all in good time I guess.
***UPDATE: 30 Mar 08***
I got a little bored today while it was so nice outside so I decided to pull my front bumper off and do some cutting. I figured that a new bumper is coming soon so I might as well have a good time hacking this one up. I opened up the front air dam for more flow to the IC and moved my license plate.
Also two shot of how the car sits with the new coilovers on and adjusted.
***UPDATE: 20 Mar 08***
Got my first rim back today from S&S Autobody today, I had them sandblast them to remove all the damage from winter salt, then they were painted gold and received 3 coats of clear sealer.
Rim with damage on left, and side by side comparison.

BOYCOTT REDS GARAGE IN PETAWAWA!
Finally got around to getting an alignment done, required 4 camber bolts to match the settings I wanted. In the end it cost me $400! Ridiculous you say? Yes it was, in the end they told me they had a tough time removing the strut to knuckle bolts, the same ones I replaced not even a week prior and that in total it took them 160 minutes to do one bolt at each corner. I was a whole lot pissed off, I expected to pay MAX $300 after I was quoted the price for parts and including the $97 alignment. I was told that my car would be in for 1 hour as opposed to 30 minutes because they had to make sure my specs were done perfectly. Well $400 and 2.5hrs later I had an alignment.
Thanks Reds Garage...thanks for nothing. If you knew you werent able to do the job I asked in a costly and efficient manner then you should have turned the job down.
***UPDATE: 1 Mar 08***
Its not car related but the Montreal Canadiens just took 1st place in the Eastern Conference with a 2-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils.
GO HABS GO!
***UPDATE: 23 Feb 08***
Have a replacement transmission! I am now only waiting on the flywheel friction surface and then the install can begin. Its been a long week of waiting so im more than ready to get back to work.
Old and busted on the left, used but working on right!
***UPDATE: 20 Feb 08***
I found the issues with the transmission upon opening it today, a total of 12 teeth off two gears and a blow output shaft bearing.
On a much better note, my ARK coilovers arrived today along with a new clutch, did the install of the suspension tonite, will need to wait for car to come off stands in order to adjust and fine tune them. Brakes are in miserable shape due to changing temperatures here lately, was going to upgrade this summer...but the transmission had other plans.
***UPDATE: 17 Feb 08***
I've found nothing wrong so far with my transmission so a new clutch and friction surface from Fidanza is on order tomorrow. When everything is back together I will be able to see if my clutch was the issue, if not then I have much larger problem then I thought and it will be time for a new tranny.
***UPDATE: 14 Feb 08***
Transmission failure anyone?
Happy fawking Valentines day to me! My tranny decided to take a short break from its duties and stopped working on the highway about 2 hours from home, I made it but man was I ever mad. Perhaps I shouldn't have hit up the dyno that day, lol.
This is the state of my Fidanza flywheel and ACT clutch when I took the two of them apart, not even 20,000km on them...hot spots and glazing. The friction surface on the flywheel has been worn into and there is a raised edge on the outer lip.
This is where my transmission sits for the next week or so until I can tear it down completely and see the damage.
My friend Chantelle modelling a failed clutch.
***UPDATE: 9 Feb 08***
I blem my stock dampers after 20,000km with a 2" drop, they had a total of 122,000km on them when the break down started, kudos to Hyundai for putting decent parts on their cars. They have been replaced by a set of ARK ST-P coilovers, they should be here in a week or two and installed shortly after to prevent further damage to my car due to failing suspension.
***UPDATE: Jan 14 2008***
After 20,000km of boosted driving I replaced my internals so I could get rid of the decompression plate. It was causing small amounts of oil to leak into my coolant.
I went with the 1.8L rod and piston upgrade. This is a popular one among the Hyundai tuners in Korea, these internals are used by another Cardomain member who has a 400whp+ daily driven Tiburon. Its a simple and effective way to lower compression for boost applications.
New goodness on left, Old tired and junky on right!
***UPDATE: Dec 9 2008***
This is the surprise snow fall we got that left me stranded with summer tires on the car. They quickly came off and got replaced with some winter rubber, but not quickly enough to keep the salt from ruining the finish on the metal. The rims are currently at S&S Autobody getting sandblasted and repainted gold.
The car was going to come off the road for the winter but I did not get around to finding a winter beater so it stayed out this year.
