57 CHEVY HOMEMADE FORWARD TILTING HOOD
This uses the 90 Buick forward tilting hood stuff found from a wrecking yard...you will need to get this stuff and use the pics to compare to make these pics make sense to you

I cut the safety latch off the 57 hood latch as you dont need it and it allows the hood to tilt further

Weld on the tabs for the hinges

These are the tabs the rollers bolt to

Cut down the rear edge of the hood so it will clear the cowl rubber when opening

This shows the completed track before final welding and blasting/painting...notice the piece added on top so the hood drops at the right time

The lower part of the track is basically copied from the original hinge..then the Buick track was cut to sit on top

Notice all the excess ugly track was cut off and discarded...the rear part of the "hook" was also cut shorter to allow the wheel to drop

These are the only 2 non original holes!!

BGBLK57's 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

I cut the hinge bar in the center and took out the excess as it was way too wide...then I put a steel dowel inside the tube and rewelded it

I cut the hinge plates so the looked cleaner and more like they belong

BGBLK57's 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

I trimmed the original plates and bent them down so the pivot was on the top of the rad saddle..then drilled the mounting holes right through them and the rad saddle

Next I welded on a stop with a nult/bolt so I can adjust the tilt
