Now that we finally have our off road tires on, we needed to match up the spare. Unfortunately the tire's added height will not fit the original mount.
As many would have guessed I searched for the solution. I easily found brackets sold by various venders that would raise the tire up. These brackets looked like they would work well but I did not like the idea of mounting the tire any further from the door than I had too. I also hated to spend $100 plus for such a simple solution.
Being a member of the LRO forum (www.landroversonly.com) I threw out my dilemma. There I was told to just flip the original bracket that was on the door.
So, that is what we did and it looks great. The listed site below gives the step by step process. The entire project took only a couple hours and cost me about twelve bucks. (2 broken clips at 75 cents and a panel removal tool).

Instructions for Flipping Spare Tire Bracket

Flipping rear tire bracket will allow larger tire to fit on rear.

Good to see people putting their 4x4 to good use, both off road and with the family. Very similar to what I have planned for my Sportage; good, dirty family fun! Thumbs up for doing your own work, too.
