"4 x 4 OUT BACK ADVENTURE" Bruin, PA 6/22/2006
A wet weekend of camping & 4 wheeling sponsored by Meridian Off Road in Butler, PA. This was our first weekend of off road adventure since moving to PA. Approximately 75- 4X4's attended. The sponsors did a great job, but we were no way ready for all the mud & rain. Due to limited funds we still had our 18" wheels & street tires on the Disco.
As you may have guessed the mud was like being on ice. Shortly after starting we returned to the tent to avoid sliding into a tree. My Son & his friend were disappointed that I would not attempt the hill climbs but quickly overcame the challenge when they decided to shoot their newly acquired air pistols.
Of course most of the attendees were really great. Being the only Rover there we did attract attention. Typically the old-timers complemented our Disco. Then there were a number of typically young individuals who drove nearly stock Jeeps who continually poked fun & teased us that we were impotent.
So the wheels are ordered and the tires will be on soon. Let?s see what they say next time.
