I bought this 1970 Porsche 914 at the 2005 Summer Carlisle for $2200. It seemed like a good deal at the time. It ran with a slight engine knock and a little rust underneith. As the story goes, the previous owner put some pretty good money into his car (engine work, complete brakes, paint, gas tank...) now that he was out of college. The only mistake he made was marriage and so the Porsche went into a 5 year hibernation. The now father realizes that he will never get his car back on the road and tada, I have a new project.
The problems;
1. plastic fuel lines are shot
2. engine knock (now more pronounced)
3. the innability to actually roll
4. surface rust turned into cancer from a rear window "leak"
5. frozen dash switches
6. puke colored interior
7. puke inducing storage smell
8. immobile passenger
9. way too mobile drivers seat (mounts over cencer area)
10. rust coming through some painted areas
The good news .... I'M HANDY!

When you go to remove the rust you goign to try to just kill it, or sand it off or you going to replace the part with rust on it? I ask bc mine spent a yr in snow and they salt roads up north so the rear axle and springs is beginning to show some rust, and i wanted to sotp it before it got worse.
