Alright back to what I was talkin about above with the silly looking "tunner" or the pimped out autos, or whatever you call them (you did click the link text above didn't you?)anyways I just wanted to bag on those cars and show you how to keep it real!
those TV commercials are funny and all, but there is a lot of truth behind humor, that is what makes it funny, kind of like jerry sinfield stand up, it's funny because you can relate to it. So if you can relate keep reading!

first things first, I recomend doing your own basic services to your echo such as: oil changes (every 3,000)brake pad changes (evey 40,000 to 70,000)depending on how hard you are on your brakes, if you have a manual transmission you can use the engein to slow you down instead of your brakes, that helps save the life of the pads and rotors. you should'ent have to do any upgrades to your echos braking system since the echo is such a small and light vehical to begain with. also the rear brakes should last you a very long time because the majority of the stopping power is applyed from the front disc brakes. alright brake pads dont have to be the expencive ones, $20 - $25 dollar ones work well. aslong as you change the pads as needed your rotors will last you as well. another basic service you can do is change your spark plugs. The toyota echo is a distribuless vehical. that means "it gots no distributor." so thats cool. when its time to smog your car you just change the plugs, the oil, air filter and throw a full tank of 92 octain and your done.Its alwys better to drive your vehical before you get it smoged and let it run when you get there (I dont even shut it off at all its running the whole time before thay pull it in) alright so enuff with the boring stuff

You could also add a free flow catalitic converter to get the proper system flow< but for me to pricie and the smog laws suck in california!

so this brings us to the intake system. there are a number of things you can do here. but im not saying you need to do any upgrades to your intake system, (the stock intake system dose the job) One thing you can do is buy a K & N air filter. this is the cheapest way to go since you use your stock air box and plumming system, all's you upgrade is the accual filter itself. I do not recomend this! In some cases the oil you use on the K & N filter to catch the dirt may cause a build up on your o2 sensore and cause your air/fuel mix to be rich and there gose your gas mileage Another thing you can do is remove your stock air box and plumming system and replace them with a coldair intake system or a short ram system. so i have done a lot of reserch on both of these and could only find a few options avalable for the echo. there is an intake system made by AEM. to bad it is only avalable from the toyota dealer in canada or europe. JUST A NOTE: YOU COULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE SICON xA & xB BECAUSE UNDER THE HOOD THAY ARE THE SAME AS THE ECHO. SO IF AN AFTER MARKET PART SUCH AS A STRUT BAR OR AN INTAKE WAS MADE FOR THOSE SICONS THAY SHOULD FIT THE ECHO.
