1961 Cadillac Convertible Series 62.. 3rd owner.. 1st owner was one of the founding father of the Great Black Panthers. It was 1st sold in San Jose in 1960 as a 1961. Spend all it's life in Southern California. It is in the process of receiving a complete Frame Off Restoration..Will post updated pictures as restoration continues.. Nice and Complete 19 1/2 feet long.. Body is straight and rust free Minor rust on the body which will be cut out and replaced with fresh metal Dash was complete and now... : o ( Electrical work is in process and dash is being chromed.. Interior is guted out and being reupholstered in milk white Leather with red piping and white top Again, nice body with no rust and a LOOOOONG CAR!!! Trunk have been ordered and on it's way This Cadillac will be painted an Apple Red color with white interior and white top along with 2 3/4 white wall tires.. Restoration process started... First down to bare metal.. Notice the HOT PINK.. Give me a freaking break.. It took the sander 21/2 weeks to do one side..... Looking good though Seems like these guys found another place to store all their junk..I'm Pissed.. RUUUUUUUST.... Finally... I knew it was too good to be true.. Anyone with a 1961 Convertible floor pan out there??? Uh.. They removed the pieces to put in the trunk???? Restoration process is in full swing.. Still a LOOONG car... All chrome pieces are at the chrome shop being triple chromed Complete front removed... The engine bay... "No Rust" ; 0 ) Oh... The all mighty "CHERRY PICKER"... Ladies and Gentlemen... Here is the chassis.. Please note "NO RUST" Another close up shot.. It is very clean considering the age of the vehicle. New Dual exhaust. Engine and transmission will be completely rebuild and the chassis will be powder coated. New brake lines, fuel lines and body rubbers have been ordered..Every nuts and bolts will be replaced. Here is the firewall. It will be painted the same as the body. Please note.. CLEAN for a 45 year old vehicle. Can you see the ugly original Seafoam Green? Few exterior chrome pieces still remains. Every chrome piece is getting triple chrome..
Just the shell... She will be almost brand new after we are done with her Here is the other side.. Can you see the green now? Down to the bare metal... 1st coat of sealer going on.. Quarter panels are cut ready for rust work and Fabrication.. Right side.. Straight, no bondo and no rust... Close up shot of the firewall.. Can you see the Green? Firewall again... Will be painted body color.. Rear under carriage.... Left side... Also, no rust or bondo and straight Left side quarter.. Rust work and Fabrication to begin.. Another shot of that funky HOT pink.... YEAWWWWWW Sealing is done.. Left side is getting sealed..... Trunk... Floor pan is out.. It's time to weld a new piece... $750.00 alone.. Side shot of the trunk..(Left) Right.. Left panel getting worked on.. Please notice less rust.. Same with right side Here are the front seat... What do you think? Dash pad and the bottom rear... Sunvisors, door panels and carpet getting done along with the top. Another picture of the front seat... Front seat with the handrest down.. Here's the FRAME.. Fully powdercoated.. What do you think? Please refer to picture 22 and 23 The mid section of the frame.. Rear section.. The "PUMPKIN" also will be serviced if not rebuild.. A close up shot of the shiny powder coat.. Sorry.. Just a bit dusty but you get the idea once it's polished.. Hood is getting worked on... Body is now getting done.. Rust work done on the right side inner rocker.. Replaced with actual rocker from another Cadi.. Rear shot.. Notice the vehicle is primered..Waiting for trunk floor pan.. Picture of the MINT original unrestored steering wheel which will be painted red and white.. Thanks Ebay.. Funny looking but one of the rarest item for the Cadi.. The TRUMPET horn.. FINALLY...Rear trunk floor pan completely removed ready for a replacement.. Rear left trunk shot.. Rear right trunk shot... Here is THE rear clip.. I feel like I committed a sin by cutting up another 61 Convertible.. RIP.. Close up shot.. Here is the left real wheel cowl/panel.. Original was rusted so it was replaced with another panel from the remaining pieces.. Shot of the same panel/cowl from inside.. Nice job ..What do ya think?? Left lower panel being repaired.. Alot of fabrication.. Please refer to picture # 45 Another shot of the Left lower panel... Rust pieces will be cut out and fabricated with fresh metal... Picture of the interior floor panels... Sorry for the dark picture... Wondering what is that red paint? Continue reading..... This is the toughest under coating available on the market... It can be tinted to match the body color.. Front firewall bottom.. With the freshly powder coated black chassis the under carriage will look gorgious... Another shot of the under carriage.. Will be prep for a second coat.. Warranty??? How about 60 years.. I will be worm food by than... Gives you an idea how clean the job is done... Body is fit to chassis to be checked for imperfections. Original matching engine and transmission. Seriously consideing a Northstar or a LS2 conversion.. Left view of the body... Still alot of work needs to get done... Right side view... Trunk came out beautiful... I got it at "Cadillac's Only" here in Reseda, CA... $700.00 DANG...... Close up shot of the chassis and the body... Check out the undercoating.... Another shot of the front... All the suspension parts have been ordered along with Disc Brake conversion. I am also installing airbag system so I can dump the car on some Gianna 22"'s... This is the chosen wheel with the insert painted Ferrari Red (Rosso Corsa) to match the color of the Cadillac. Here's a HOT ROD Cadillac... She's a 1962 though but look how BADD she looks... But again, here's the real deal... I gotta make a decision. Please help Firewall cleaned up ready to be silicone sealed.
