Update: 10-22-2008

Well I purchased a new project this summer and the volvo has been put to rest for now. I picked up a 1985 BMW 635csi from a close friend for cheap and got it running and its been great. Its my DD. As for the volvo, I have a new engine for it that needs to be rebuilt and painted. I need a good set of SU's so i can get my carb guy to rebuild them. Im looking into a small block swap in the future just to toy around with. The car will get an all new sport/race suspension and brakes. I will gut it out and look into a 4 point cage for it. Big plans for it in the future but for now I'm sticking with the bmw while looking for a small e30 to play around with too.

Well my dad collects old volvos and was going to restore them but just never got to it. we have 3 142's, 122, 2 544's as of now. and i had to choice to pick one to fix for me. didint pick the 544 cause of the 6v to 12 conversion so i just went with the 142 and picked the best one. they have all been sitting for about 10-15 years so they are all a mess.

heres me and the car i picked out... i fell in love with it.

Here's a good start for your reading: http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=114628 Do some searching on that website, and on the brickboard to find lots and lots and lots of great information. About if you should swap in that newer b20, that depends on a lot of factors. What year is it? What's been done to it? About the strombergs, if they have an airbox on them, just take off the airbox lid and secure the filter in there. It'll be faster than having the airbox lid on there and routing it out to the front of the car for cold air. I've tested it before. I used to have more pictures, but they seem to have gotten lost somewhere. Anyway, here are a couple of my cold air intake that I ended up not going with: http://www.ovtuners.org/gallery/albums/1422005/IMG_1310.sized.jpg http://www.ovtuners.org/gallery/albums/1422005/IMG_1308.sized.jpg And here's the rest of the gallery for my car: http://www.ovtuners.org/gallery/my142 And check out my page, I updated it finally after over two years... Just a little bit on the first page. I might eventually do a longer update and add some more pictures and pages. Not anytime soon though.

If you get a fuel injected exhaust manifold from a fuel injected b20, it will perform better than that header you have pictured. Especially if you cut the downpipe in the straight section and add 4" into it.

What's up man!? Car's looking good! Be careful of leaving it in primer only though, I head that attracts and holds in water if it isn't painted soon after... Regarding SU vs Weber, look for a set of later SU HIF6 carbs that come fitted on later 140 b20 carbed cars. They're bigger than the earlier SU HS6s that came on b18s. They'll outperform the weber by far. I picked a set up for cheap and then sent them to Rhys of Islandautomotion(sucarburators.com I think). And about that header... That header will actually perform worse than one of the stock FI exhaust manifolds...

Oh boy, definitely looks like you have some work cut out for ya! How's it coming along? What're your plans for it? Check out my 142 and 244 sometime. Peace!
