My LC GTRXU1
I purchased the car from a guy in bundaberg in April 2006. This is the first photo of the car that I saw when it was first advertised.
After confirmation of all the cars vital numbers it was confirmed as 4/71 LC GTRXU1 built at the Acacia Ridge plant and first sold in brisbane. An agreed amount was decided upon and I was soon to be the XU1's new custodian. It was then a trip to bundaberg in a tilt tray towtruck for its ride back to her new home.
The car wasn't even off the tilt tray before I started tinkering with the old girl. The first thing I had to do was rectify the wiring as the previous owner had opted for a clean engine bay and had run the wiring under the guards. This was a very fidley job but I managed to get them back to their original location. The second job was to source an original battery tray as a custom larger tray had been fitted to ensure a battery with enough CCA's to turn her over. The new tray has now been fitted and awaiting a new battery.
The seats currently in it aren't original as the cloth houndstooth inserts were available in the GTR option with the GTR XU1 only having longrain black vinyl. The seats are currently out of the car and are being stripped, painted then sent to have some new vinyl covers fitted.
At some stage a previous owner had fitted the larger 175 CD's but I have just managed to get my hands on a set of 150 CD's which will be reconditioned and fitted.
I recently purchased a reproduction boot liner and vinyl tank cover to protect the boot floor and the 77 litre bathurst fuel tank.
June 2006:
I have just finished painting the grille and headlight surrounds back to original

The car's original colour is Yellow Dolly but seen that the paint is so good I will leave it this colour for a while and just enjoy the car. I have been lucky enough to speak with 2 of the previous owners and have traced the cars history back to roughly 1984. The second last owner informed me that he bought the car from a bloke who worked in an exhaust shop in Bundaberg who only owned it for a short time. He believed that this owner bought the car from the Gold Coast. The car had already had its colour change by the time it taken to Bundaberg. I would be very interested to hear from anybody that has any helpfull information that may help me in finding out history on this vehicle pre 1984.
More to come soon!
Cheers
L :-)
