Everyone seems to buy this EXACT car waiting for the apex seals to go bad so they can swap in a new engine. I guess I am in that club. My engine will be an s4 turbo engine which supposedly bolts right up to the transmission.
This car is actually a 1988 GTU (which took forever to figure out). Aside from the turbo this is the most desirable model because it does not have the never-works-on-an-80's-car adjustable suspension or ABS, but it does have a sport tuned suspension and an LSD. The car has 4-piston front brakes right now, which I suspect someone swapped in. I of course figured all of this out AFTER buying the car, a pleasnt surprise.
If any of the previous owners on CarDomain have the key for the locknuts on the Mitsubishi rims, I would love to have it to save me $20 for the extraction kit.
I am going to start by removing all of the stuff that doesn't work on this car, which should save a few hundred pounds, including the AC and cruise control and sunroof mechanism. Then I will remove all of the sound deadening material. Hopefully it will be under 2500 when done.
