Southway's 1985 GMC Safari

Update 6/14/09: Traded Henrietta off for an '08 Uplander, Henrietta II

I just bought the van yesterday (June 30, 2006) from a friend of mine for $400. I needed a van for my photography business, so it's mainly going to be a work van, but I want to trick it out as much as I can. It was getting dark when I shot the pic, so it's not too good but I'll be getting some more today or tomorrow.

Preliminary plans are for it to be painted a darker blue, but keep the lighter blue on the bumpers, with stripes in that color. Also some light blue lettering on the side windows. I intend to remove the middle and rear seats and possibly put in some dark blue carpeting.

Soundwise, I'm gonna start with a Pioneer DEH-P31 CD deck that I took out of my old station wagon (87 Olds Cutlass), and a pair of old TSX-25's. Might stick some cheap coax's in the doors for now, too. That'll all be upgraded later. I actually like the deck quite a bit, but I ultimately want an MP3 deck. Might use the JVC deck that I put in my new(er) station wagon (91 Olds Cutlass)

133,302 miles
4.3L V6
Overdrive Automatic Trans.
RWD
Cruise
4 captains chairs w/swivel and rear bench
Stereo has been yanked
4 - 5 1/4" Speakers, all pretty well trashed, two in front doors, two in back side panels. One of the rear speakers is/was a coaxial.
It says "Limited Edition" on the rear door under the license.
Paint is very rough, but body looks pretty solid and straight.
Seems to run pretty good, but I've driven it very little so far. It actually runs a lot better than what the guy told me when I bought it!

Hey, do you still have this van and how's your progress. Doesn't look like a bad project van.
