                                            HERE'S THE FINAL DESIGN

silverdrifters 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse       silverdrifters 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse

My baby won't come to her full potential until i make her a GSX Spyder, as Mitsubishi only made the GSX in the hard top configuration. And she won't stay this color forever. Gonna get her painted in a metalic graphite silver color similar to the accents i painted around the interior and have it accented in black, such as a new black top and black around the windshield frame.

got bored today, so i decided to paint the rear wing matte black. gonna be that way on the final paint job.

so i'm finally back from California, and got around to installing the new amber LED turn lights and a new trunk light.

                                         silverdrifters 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse

got a tail light wire harness from an eagle talon out of a junk yard so i can wire in my LED lights and get them to blink how i want them to and a set of hood struts so i no longer have to use the normal hood prop. might be a little while before the wire harness goes in. still gotta make sure i cut the right ones and shit like that.

    silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse       silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse

been awhile since i've added to my page. just got a new H/VAC control unit and painted part of it white to match the faces that go on it. also got new red lights to put in it so the blue/red color layout will match the gauge cluster. putting it all together now, and gonna put it in the car later this week.

all together...                 silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse

went to a junk yard the other day and got some new sun visors and dyed them black to match my changing interior.

i just got my Symborski Shifter Bushing Set and Mach V Shifter Cable Bushing Set today. i haven't put the shifter cable bushings on yet due to work, will have to do it tomorrow. so far the other shifter kit feels awesome. the shifter is completely solid, minus a little play when in gear, i'm guessing the cable bushings will eliminate most of that. more soon...

i went and got my headlights polished today... no more oxidation...

                                      silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse

my eyebrow light on the driver's side started to flicker and not work for some reason. so i re-wired it and it still did the same thing and then even blew out the fuse a few times. so i got rid of that light strip and bought a replacement as well as some additional ones and re-did the whole setup.

i got bored tonight so i decided to finish up some changes to my gauges that i've been planning on for awhile. i painted over the large center section that lit up in white while on, which kinda dulled the blue from the numbers. now it's the same color as the rest of my interior trim. i also added red LEDs behind the needles and odometer numbers to contrast the blue. came out looking pretty good...

got my new black door panels the other day so now all i have to get for the interior is black carpet, and black seats. got the passenger side painted but not the driver side panel yet, gonna do that over the weekend. more pics soon..

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder           silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

went to a junk yard the other day and got a new e-brake assembly since mine got fuckered up when i got the new cover for it. sanded off all the rust, primered it, and chromed and clear coated it. turned out really well and looks like new...

                                           silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

got my strut bar today as well. it's not exactly the one i was expecting but it's good enough and i like it. can definately tell the the car is stiffer and smoother going through curves at higher speeds.

                                          silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

i decided to go to one of the junkyards i normally check for parts and got the passenger side sill panel and both rear panels all in black. the rear driver side panel isn't in the greatest shape, but i know i can fix it to look good again...

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder      silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

                                                                  ...here's both in the car....

i finally got a new front bumper a few days ago. it's only an OEM replacement for now, but it still looks good. i also gave it a slight two-tone paint job as you'll see in the pic. got the idea from an Audi R8. it's a crappy pic because it was with my phone and it's overcast outside so the colors aren't as distinct as they should be. more later though...

                                     silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

holy fuck it's been awhile since i added something to this page. so here's the things i've done over the last couple months...

i got all my button lights blue to match the gauges

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder                silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

also finally went and got a yellow top Optima battery

                                          silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

i got bored the other day so i finally got around to taking the amber turn signal filters out of my headlights, so now it's white, like the way i wanted. just got to find white LEDs for the bumper lights and they'll be done...

                                          silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

here's a little photo-shop job of the wheels i want...

                                          silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

took off my hood..  to add some LED illumination. it's really brighter than it appears in the picture...

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder                silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

new pedal covers.. maybe next weekend i'll take the time to acctually bolt them to the pedal brakets.

        silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

added some paint to a few spots under the hood and got a new air filter...

                               silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

i decided to do a custom mod to my headlights. one of my buddies came up with the location for the LED's which turned out really nice. and those lights are inside the lens....

today i finally got my new valve cover and the bolts to go with it. so here's a couple pics of it and all the new silver vacuum hoses too.

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder  silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

got my new oil dipstick in the mail, and i painted the raised letters on the handle.

 silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

i finally got my new silver vacuum hoses by Vibrant Performance and my turbo and side mirror decals...

...it's raining like a motherfucker right now so i'll put the hoses in whenever it stops for the day. i should be getting my new valve cover next week along with the new bolts and oil dipstick... i'll take more pics when the time comes..

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

i had the day off today and finally found a dyno tester.

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

just got my windshield replaced today... just under $300.00 too. not too bad.

well i didn't get to fuckin race my car this weekend. got there and they told me that i couldn't race because my windshield is cracked too much. so now i got to fix that before i can race it.. :(

i decided to put a rope light under the hood. And here's a pic of the glove box. i put LED lights in, replacing the stock holgen bulb.

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

I'm going to the drag strip tomorrow night and I should have some pics and videos of it to post as well as my time slips. i'm hoping for a decent time...

I finally decided to remove the upper and center timing belt covers so the cam gears can be seen.. they're still only stock gears, but i think it's cool to see it all running anyway.

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

Today I ordered a new powder coated valve cover and a new set of stainless valve cover bolts & washers. I should get them in under 2 weeks...

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

I also ordered a new Oil Dipstick as I needed a new one of those too..

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

I got a sony sub and amp since it matches the already installed sony speakers.. they're just sitting in my closet getting dusty right now. waiting for some clear weather so I can install them.

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

i also took a picture good enough to tell the difference between the red turn lights and amber corner lights... which i also found LED lights for...

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

i finally got my e-brake handle put in and bought myeslf a B&M Short Shifter..

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

i found these cool looking 3D gauges that look similar to the gauge faces i already have. i'm thinking about getting them for that 3D apperence, they also come with blue LED turn signal lights for the dash..

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

added some stickers over the weekend...!!!

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

finally got my new boost/ vac gauge and installed it today..

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

got my new Autometer Cobalt Air/Fuel gauge... i'll put it in once i get the Boost/Vac gauge in a few days..

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

can't really tell, but i put in some LED lights into the front turn signals and they turned out to be red instead of amber. i thought it gave the car a unique and sort of evil look....

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

here's a couple pics i took for the hell of it... thought i'd be kinda funny... i also decided to put in the new, yet crappy valve cover so i could take the original out, clean it up, and send it off to get a much better powder coating.

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

all wired finally...

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

here's my E-Brake handle, can't install it until i cut part of the stock handle under the vinyl handle

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

here are the LED tail lights that my Awesome girlfriend got me for christmas. after a few months and SEVERAL "BROKEN BY UPS" pairs later, i finally got to put them on my car...

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

... just to find out that they don't work properlly straight out of the box. i had to get LED Load Equalizers from Autozone (advanced auto doesn't carry them) to get them running the right way... i spent on hour in the freezing cold to put them back on and install the equalizers because the sun was out and i was bored... i think it was worth it.

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

the only problem i've had with the LEDs since i've installed the load equalizers is the outter most set of lights on each side didn't light up with the brakes, turn lights, or running lights. yesterday i played around with it and got those running as well, just need to snap off a couple pics and all will be good.

this is the valve cover i bought off e-bay, clearly a 2nd gen valve cover... the picture is the one from the auction. what i got in the mail, is a valve cover off of the 1st gen motor and it has a very crappy powder coat job... not to mention it turned out to be a dull silver instead of chrome like the picture shows. i know it will fit my motor, but i'm not sure if i'm gonna put it on after all. i'm kinda pissed at the seller... i call it "false advertisement"

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

this is the part i received...

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

this is a pic i got off the internet of the shift knob i bought. i haven't put it in yet because i want to get a short shifter first. it's a Razo 340 gram counter weight knob, and it's pretty heavy for it's size.

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

and here are some pics of the acctual shift knob...

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

i never liked the stock under dash illumination. i don't like my car lighting up everytime i want to get in it. so i took out the stock lights and replaced them with blue LED lights in side the door pockets. they are wired to the same wires as the previous lights so they light up when the doors are opened. the neon tube under the stereo also lights up when the doors are opened. it's way better than the stock shit...
...i'm still trying to come up with an idea for the lights on the rear view mirror. i may just remove those and not put anything else in there place.

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder
silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

this is a pic of the paint i put on the under side of the dash and all the upper dash parts...
... can't really tell from this pic, but it's a color i tried to make by spraying on a metallic silver and then a graphite metallic coat. it looks better in other pics you can see on the next page.

silverdrifter's 1997 Mitsubishi Spyder

these are the speakers i bought to replace the stock Infinity system. they were still playing strong, but they were blown pretty bad. i wish i took pics of them. the new ones are sony explodes, i don't really prefere sony, but they were cheaper than whet i wanted...
...these are the door ones, i never did take pics of the rear ones. one of these days i'll remember to do so when i take everything apart again.

I'm loving the 3d gauge find. But I've been looking for a set myself for a while and I've come up flat out of luck. Where'd you find those?
