1976 Datsun 280z

280LT1Z's 1976 Datsun 280Z

Picked up a wrecked 1995 pont tran am with a running lt1 and a t56 six manual trans. Then found a local 1976 datsun 280z two owner to swap the engine into. Using a JTR kit, Sanderson 'd' port headers, modified original eng harness, retuned stock ecu. So far I have done Toyota 4runner front caliper conversion with drilled and slotted rotors, removed the stock bumpers, removed the stock seats and replaced them with the seats from the Pontiac, and have bought and recieved the headers. I haven't pulled the LT1 yet, the plan is to get suspension and bodywork done first, then complete the swap.

The 280 how I bought it:

Sweet car dude, I wish mine was that clean!! I am going to buy the exact same front end/clip for my 454 powered 280z. Paint and body is a ways away, but I might end up paint the car its original color or close to it....silver. I might end get alittle ricer and have racing strips put on the hood, roof, and deck lid/hatch. You should come and check out my 454 Z car page, I've updated it with much nwer and better pictures and added detail about the swap. Take care!!

What is the LT1 out of? Auto or Manual? Just do the swap and leave the body as it is for the ultimate sleeper!? just an idea?

Damn nice find, man, looks alot more solid than mine! I see your engine plans are abit more extensive than my own :) Mine probably won't get any serious engine mods till after high school, because i'll be driving it everyday.
