As we all know, Mitsubishi's new Raider pick-up truck is more or less a re-skinned and re-badged Dodge Dakota. As such, the Raider shares just about all of the same mechanical bits as its domestic sibling, save for the high-output V8 engine. Still, the Raider is available with a 4.7-liter V8 that pushes out 230 horsepower and 290 lb.-ft. of torque, which coincidentally, is the engine that is powering this Street Raider Concept.

With this being a street truck, "style" was deemed to be more important that "performance". In the words of Mitsubishi's PR material, Street Raider Concept is "designed to be the ideal truck for towing your EVO to the track in style".

We'll be among the first to say it: this truck just oozes style. The body of the Street Raider Concept is completely smooth, with the door handles and fuel filler door being shaved off. Any other parts of the truck that were deemed to stick out too much were also promptly removed. The front and rear bumpers were smoothed in and molded to the rest of the body to really clean up the overall lines of the Street Raider Concept.

But these aren't just any old smoothed out bumpers; these truck ends also boast a fair amount of flair. Up front, the massive black grille is accented with black chrome, which gives the truck a meaner look. Moving on to the back, the custom dual exhaust system was integrated into the rear bumper, allowing the Street Raider Concept to send its waste gasses into the atmosphere in style.

Thankfully Mitsubishi didn't take a cue from most street truck customizers when it selected the paint scheme for the Street Raider Concept. Mitsubishi continued with the simple and clean concept and sprayed the entire truck with several coats of PPG White Tech Pearl paint. Many street truck fans may cry foul at the truck's lack of neon-colored flames, but we prefer this understated and clean look. Unlike a truck sprayed with vomit-inducing neon colors, this White Tech Pearl-colored Raider actually looks good.

We all know that paint and massive amounts of bodywork really do a lot to change the way a vehicle looks. But to really "complete" the look, the right wheels have to be fitted to the car. There's nothing worse than seeing a car with thousands of dollars in bodywork rolling around on tiny stock wheels.

Mitsubishi, in its infinite wisdom, understands this and outfitted the Street Raider Concept with a nice big set of wheels. Thankfully the company didn't take the easy way out and simply slap on a set of god-awful "spinners". Mitsubishi instead equipped the truck with some clean (there's that word again) 7-spoke 22-inch rims measuring 265 millimeters up front and a super-fat 305 millimeters in the rear. To really make these wheels fill the wheel wells, the truck was dropped 2 inches on a custom-made air suspension.

Moving inside, the cabin of the Street Raider Concept also received a few dress-up pieces. Custom brown-and-pearl white leather was used to wrap the seats while the headliner was covered in white Alcanterra. The stock head unit was kept (for some reason), but at least it was hooked up to a Rockford Fosgate soundsystem.

All in all, the Street Raider Concept is a street truck done right. It's not too crazy; in fact, the truck is downright tasteful in every regard. If we had a track-only EVO, we'd be itching to have a truck just like this to haul our toy to the track. Hell, this truck looks like it'd be fun to drive on the track itself.

This is one sick Raider. I have an 06 dakota, any chance that roll pan would fit my truck? Also, what kind of brake upgrade to you have on your truck and about how much did it run you? I'm going to need a brake upgrade soon and wanted to know how the Brembo's are working for you.
