bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Here's what i started out with. A 1971 stock malibu dash column shifted, and a bench seat. You know that wasn't stay like that for long. Time to start putting the SS in the interior.

bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle First thing to go is that stock malibu dash. I'm replacing it with this 1972 SS dash. I wish i had pics of it before i redid it. I took out the idiot lights and opted for the factory guage package. Had to rewire the dash harness
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle There now it's installed
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Floor shift auto steering column after i refinished it.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Steering column installed. Also you can see my next project: the center console.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Center console done and painted.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Before i can paint the interior, i need to repair these dents in the firewall.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle There! The firewall dents are gone. I haven't had any autobody repair experience before this.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Here's what it looked like after i took out the dash assembly and defroster ducts.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Took the firewall down to bare metal and hit it with self etching primer.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Now the firewall is painted and the insulation installed.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Console rear mounting bracket.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Started putting the carpet in.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Rear seat, and seat belts installed.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Pic of the rear carpet.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Nice view of the bucket seats.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Front carpet with 4 spd bezel and shift boot.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Finished painting the firewall.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Pic with the pass side sill plate and console in.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Firewall with the wire harness attached.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Old rear seat cover. It looks like it was originally green then some body taped off the insets and painted it black. Of all the things to mask off.

bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Now the holes are cut out.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Stripped down the dash, and took off the metal reinforcement frame.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Old rusty frame.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Took the frame to work and media blasted it during break.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Mint condition stereo dash pad for my chevelle, just given to me.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle 2 good 71 chevelle cigarette lighters.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Installed the rear package tray and the speaker grilles.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Finally got around to painting the dash. I started by washing it with dish washing liquid and thoroughly drying it. Then masking off the painted letters. All that prepping for the chrome spray paint for the edges of the bezels and trim.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Here i have all the chrome trim masked off.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Finally it's black again.

bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Rear window defogger out of a muscle car graveyard. 40.00 from my friends at muscle cars only. I had to crawl in the rotted trunk of a 1972 monte carlo that had another car sitting on top of it. The back window was shattered and had rained on the defroster for a while. When i got it back home, i hooked it up to a battery to test the motor. Nothing happened. I tried to lube it with pb blaster. No luck. So i tore the motor apart. I inspected the armature, commutator, slip-ring and brush condition. They all checked out ok. The front bearing was tight though. I managed to free the bearing and get moving smoothly. I then reassembled the motor and retested it. This time it was a success. When it spins the only thing you can hear is air circulating.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Here's all the defogger parts after a thorough cleaning.

bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle First I had to remove the front doors and drill holes in the doors and and cowl panel.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Checking the fit of the rubber bellows.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Taking the manual regulator out. When you do this first you have to remove the glass so there is room to get the regulator out. Then put the power regulator in and reinstall the glass.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Ran the power feed wire from the horn relay to the circuit breaker.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Same thing different view.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Had to figure out the wire routing for the rear window harness. Didn't have any pics to reference the routing.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Pig tail for the relay. Also shows the dimples already stamped into the cowl. These are where you drill the holes for the relay.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Dry fit of the relay and power wire.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Old rusty broken circuit breaker.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Same circuit breaker fixed and cleaned up.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Final install.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Power window relay cleaned up, tested and ready to install.
bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Finally installed.

bubba271's 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Tested the windows operation in the car. Just have some minor tweaking yet, and it'll be perfect!

Very nice ride, definitely a five starPlease come and check out our 1984 CJ-7, We Call B.O. "Blue Ox" It was hand built with help from Randy's Off Road Connection in Marysville, WA. Clean this thing up and you will win trophies at the local truck show. The front and rear axles were built by CURRIE ENTERPRISES. They both are 6 LUG DANA 44's w/ 11" brake kit and 4:56 gears. The Jeep also has Curries heavy duty rock crawler tie rods, drag links and steering box brace kit. The rear axle has the DETROIT LOCKER and the front has ARB AIR LOCKER. It was lifted 6 inches with Curries rock crawler springs that are connected to the frame with welded Currie spring hangers. NO LOW HANGING SHACKLES HERE" We get the power to them thru curries balanced custom rock crawler CV drive shafts. It rolls on Mickey Thomson rims W/ 35" SUPER SWAMPER SSR's. I also had them sipped for more wet weather/ winter traction. I keep her riding smooth with RANCHO RS9000 shocks. If it gets stuck I can pull her out with the Warn HS9500I winch. The paint is glacier blue with black interior Water proof bucket seats and full custom roll cage.

you putting factory AC on an AC car or something else? If you are then its pretty straight forward. New O-rings and new dryer. I adjusted my POA valve for R134 and the temps got to 30* out the vents on a fairly warm day. I cant remember how much I did but I think it was a quarter turn. Ill have to look it up.
