I bought this Mach 1 in 1993 after returning from a business trip to Canada. It had no options at all, although it came with a maroon interior, which I much prefer to the more common black.

I paid $1800 for the rolling shell. No engine or tranny, not much of the interior was left, the rear quarters needed to be replaced, but it was a 9R02H factory candy apple red mach 1. The first restoration was nearly stock with a mildly warmed over 351W as it was intended to be my daily driver.

This is the second iteration of the car. It's an absolute blast!

In it's latest incarnation, it has a coil over front suspension with double adjustable AFCO shocks, big 12.125 x 1.25 front discs on alum hubs, with 12 x 0.81 rear discs. 69Gmachine's 1969 Ford Mustang

69Gmachine's 1969 Ford MustangAlthough disguised as almost factory in appearance, this is a monster 408 Windsor with AFR 205 heads, Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam, Edelbrock port matched Torker II intake, SRP forged 10.1 pistons, a forged steel crank and aluminum flywheel power the beast. On the dyno it made 537 HP @ 5800 rpm and 522 ftlbs @4900 rpm. The block has been modified with 4 bolt mains, screw in core plugs, a one piece rear main seal, and all of the lifter bores have been sleeved to give the proper alignment and bring the clearances into spec.

69Gmachine's 1969 Ford MustangThe AC compressor and clutch are from a 1984 F-150, while the power steering pump is from a 79-85 Fox Mustang. The cast alum bracket was modified slightly to accept the light weight modern pump. It's a great match with the GM J-car rack.

69Gmachine's 1969 Ford Mustang I've gone to great lengths to make the ignition appear stock, although much of it is a ruse. It has a Duraspark ignition and a trunk mounted battery. The one in the tray is just for looks.  It's actually hollow and hides the ignition and headlight relays.

I'm using my own design rack and pinion steering and hydraulic clutch 69Gmachine's 1969 Ford Mustang This picture is out of date with version 3.0 of the slave cylinder mount (red bracket at far left). In version 3.1 I've added a stand off to the bracket to move the CNC clave cylinder outboard a quarter inch, reduced the lever arm from 2:1 down to 1.7 to 1, and it's painted black now. The lever arm has a 1.7 to 1 ratio to allow me to retain the AFCO 3/4" master with a relatively small amount of pedal travel.

Late model 17x8 mach 1 front wheels with P245s, matching 17x9 rear wheels with P275s take the power from a 3.70 gearset in the nodular pumpkin. 69Gmachine's 1969 Ford Mustang

A Magnaflow 2.5" stainless exhaust system is connected to the Accufab 1 3/4" long tube headers. The headers were modified by a local shop (Great job Four Ts!!) to provide more clearance for the spark plug wires on cylinders 4, 7 and 8. Burnt plug wires are a thing of the past.

There is ample clearance around the R&P, hydraulic clutch, and the ground, even with the car lowered 1 1/2 inches.

Really nice ride. I'm very interested in your front suspension. Did you make your own control arms? What length/rate front springs are you using? I assume the spindle is the Willwood ProSpindle? Is it's Ackerman angle similar to the original spindle?cheersJames

Nice update - remove those extra blank pages though. I updated my Mach 13 page 5 with stuff from last 2 months. Come look and leave me some fresh feedback. -Nick

Yeah, I wish I had a Mach 1 like that. I updated my webpage today. Check out my suspension project.
