This is a 1979 El Camino."Elconvertible" It has a 350 bored out 30 over, 4 bolt racing main, racing carb, 350 transmission, 3500 rpm stall converter, transmission kit, and a Posi-Trac 10 bolt rear end! This thing will scoot! It will spin the tires when it hits 2nd gear! With ease. This thing is an automatic! I love driving it!

STORY:
.
I got an idea one day at work and that was to make a convertible out of my El Camino, I call it the El Convertible. Its a Russtic Custom get it? My name is Russ, it is Rusty HAHA Custom Anyway

1.I started with the interior, stripped it out just the top stuff.
2. Took out the back Window, Anybody want a back window?
3. Took the back quarter windows out. Anybody need any of those, too?
4. I cut the roof off the car. It took me one day to cut it off and three weeks to put it on!
5. Welded pins and slots on, 2 on each side of the back and 2 in the front.
6. Welded latches on, 1 on each side of the back and 3 in front.
7. Made a BIG hinge to fold the top in to the bed.
8. Welded a brace to support the front of the roof.
9. Made brackets to support the roof from bottoming out . Without these the hinge would buckle.
10. Made a hole in the bed to hold the brackets in place.
11. Made seals for the front.
12. Made some Plexiglas windows for the back and quarter windows. Over the stove!

Now just having fun with it!!! Enjoy!

Wicked! You get 5 stars for creativity and I'll throw ya another 5 for not being afraid to chop up your car. Grat work, looks like a fun ride! Check out my El Camino/Cutlass Frankenstein if you get a chance, you'd appreciate it 'cuz I like to chop up cars too! Keep it up, dare to be different.
