How to get a switched voltage source.

In order to wire a few things I tapped into the center console 12V source. This is an excellent source since it can provide 15 amps of switched power. Hence when the car shuts down this source also shuts down.

First thing was to drill a hole at the bottom of the center console and fish a wire with a male cigarret lighter connector.

Then attached a positive and negative terminal boards to the other ends of the wires.

Tucked all the wiring away underneath the side of the center console.

Then proceeded to wire the rest of my peripherals.

This is how i have my stuff wired (radar detector, voltage gauge, fog lamps (after market)):
