Today, 6/19/07, was a good day. I, along with the expert help of Glen and Ron from the Bay Area Mustang Association, dropped my new 351w into the fastback. I spent the last week prepping the engine for today's event... installed a new Canton oil pan and windage tray, flywheel, kevlar clutch, pressure plate, Mcleod scatter shield and T5 trans with upgraded G-Force gearset, but the actual install only took an hour and a half. That's mainly due to the expertise of Glen.
Glen was a tremendous help, and I graciously thank Glen, not forgetting Ron for their help, which definitely helped speed along the process. Having 3 people on the project makes things a lot smoother. Glen directing the proceedings and guiding the engine from above; Ron down below keeping a watchful eye as well as physical muscle guiding the trans into placed; while I operated the lift and engine leveler in-between helping Glen guide the engine from above. Without Glen's and Ron's help, the engine would still be sitting on the floor in the garage, and it's a great feeling to get past this milestone.
Here are some pics of the prep and install.
Bare block and block plate installed.
Flywheel, clutch and pressure plate installed.
Scattershield and trans in position.
Glen and Ron getting the engine over the radiator suppot, and all three of us starting to massage it into the trans tunnel.
Now Ron has gone under the car to guide the trans into position, while Glen and I slowly lower, then level, then lower some more, then level some more, etc
Here's the engine in it's final resting place.
Final installed engine. It's runs strong. Sept 2007
