arbitrary's 1980 Nissan 200SXmade in limited production and having only reached limited popularity, very few parts or information remain on this obscure model. this old school s110 wears some rare & one-off parts and modifications, making it unique amongst the numbered few which still see light of day.

arbitrary's 1980 Nissan 200SXwelcome to my cardomain page! if you've been here before you may notice that it has a slightly different format. updates will now go on the front page. when a new update appears, the old one will cycle to the last page. As always, feel free to leave comments and positive feedback is appreciated!

04/24/2007 - long time no update! sorry folks, big things are happening, pics soon to follow. so, I decided that I couldn't bear to scrap grandpa so he's in the spriggs family garage undergoing bodywork in prep for paint.. let me tell you, things are starting to look good. antenna hole is shaved, rear wiper is shaved, wrinkles and crinkles being smoothed back into straight lines. I'm keeping the color a secret for now, but I'll be putting up progress pics soon. after it gets paint, the motor will finally go in. since grandpa is getting restored, we'll see what happens to the 82.. could get interesting, heh.

other updates - 15x8 hoshino repaired (set is now complete), fender mirrors purchased, 1977 datsun 710 purchased, 14x7 0et 3 piece gotti's purchased, s13 coupe sold, no internet at home still, and hot new girlfriend. :)

halleleujah.

arbitrary's 1980 Nissan 200SX11/07/06 - well this one is a big update! if you've been following the story, I've been debating over motor swaps. I made a list and then gave up on most of my choices because you can't find a z18et or an fj20 in north america, an sr20 swap at this time is out of my price range and ca18det's are tempermental and the wiring (much like the sr) would be a headache. I was pretty much down to the ka24de or try and stuff a vg out of an s12 200sx in there. I had resigned myself to the fact that the crossmember would need to be modified, custom driveshaft, lots of wire splicing, etc -

arbitrary's 1980 Nissan 200SXthat was, until I actually found a Z18ET!! yep, thats right.... OLD SCHOOL TURBO POWER. the motor this car was born to have, should be a direct swap in place of the z20e. arrived today, it came with the tranny, clutch, flywheel, what appears to be the whole wiring harness and ecu. but aside from the new ticker, something else big is in the works - unfortunately grandpa has some nasty rust and corrosion on the undercarriage and a little in the trunk, also pretty much the entire battery tray and the metal around it is corroded and holy. a lot of places where panels don't quite line up straight and a lot of little dings dents etc.

arbitrary's 1980 Nissan 200SXthe quarter panels have some ripples which would require the metal to be replaced, I really wasn't sure what to do - already into this one pretty deep, I did not want to repaint it until the body was fully restored. also, before I had the car apparently it was in some kind of front end accident because it does not have the original radiator core support, but another welded in its place. this is slightly off as I also believe is the frame rail on the passenger side, which made it a lot of work getting the front end to line up right

arbitrary's 1980 Nissan 200SXwell, I have the solution! I picked up an 82 s110 hatch at no charge thanks to my good friend builder bob! the body and all panels are in excellent condition, there is no rust and very little cosmetic work required - also, with body rigidity in mind, it has no sunroof. it came with no motor and is the perfect candidate to be grandpa's new core.

arbitrary's 1980 Nissan 200SXthe plan is to take all of the stuff I have on the 80 and move it onto the 82, including the interior with the clean black dash - I'll post pics of the interior on the 82 at another time - it's ugly as sin. the 82 has the plastic bumper covers and a slightly different look than the 80 in the headlights, grille, and hood. the fenders are slightly different than the 80 to compensate for the changes - I prefer the black bar style bumpers better but I have a bit of an ambitious plan to swap over most of the front end from the 80 and then customize the 82's bumper skin to work with my kamei lip.

if what I have drawn out on paper actually works out, I will be able to run the 1980 hood, fenders, headlights, grille and the metal trim strip that runs below the headlights, and still maintain the plastic bumper cover from the 82 with the integrated kamei lip... how will I do that?? you'll just have to check back for the next update and see! In the near future look forward to seeing a nice paint job, the motor dropped and running, and with any luck, an ear to ear sh*t eating grin across my face :)

Excellent work. I have a 82 Nissan 180sx Silvia stopped since 2000, hopefully I can help by providing information that allows me to learn more than my car, information from the electrical and compatible parts of other vehicles you can adapt. This car was the best I've had, I regret having neglected but this is my project for this year remains. We very much appreciate the information I can provide. leonardo_dpdf@ymail.com
