1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 5-speed:All-Wheel-Drive, Turbo, 4cyl, 16-valve, DOHC 4G63 Engine, 74600 miles.

Standard options:
Ext: Miraculous Silver. Int: Flawless black leather interior, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, power sunroof, power driver-seat, power stereo antenna, cruise control, air conditioning, programmable garage door opener, in-car fuel door release, fog lights, ABS, Dual-piston calipers in the front/single-piston calipers in the rear, rear windshield wiper, rear defroster, premium white faced gauges(only in 99's), premium sound with factory infinity amplifier under passenger seat, alarm system, all-season Goodyear tires, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cargo net in trunk, spare tire and jack, remote-keyless entry.

I am the second owner of this one-of-a-kind machine, 1999 was the last year of production, and the only year Mitsubishi made adjustments to the 7-bolt motor including bearings and girdles. It has a clean title and a spotless carfax report. Believe me when I tell you this is the cleanest most well maintained Eclipse you will find. Everything is in excellent condition, having been stored the past three winters and kept in the garage during my ownership, the paint is miraculous and the interior is nothing less as well. I am very conscious about maintenance and oil changes keeping the car in optimum operating condition throughout. This vehicle is 100% emissions legal, passing the Illinois emissions test in October of 07. The previous owner was a non-smoker woman who couldn’t fit a baby seat in the back seat! I'm also non-smoker, and have a great passion for this vehicle . The car gets great gas mileage: Avg 22mpg. This is not a car that has been through crazy spoilers or "custom" paint jobs on the interior or under hood hose kits, nor has this car ever seen a track. It is tasteful with very subtle modifications below. **All performance modifications and tuning was done by professional ASE Certified Technicians**(AMS&Elmhurst Auto Care)

Here is a current Mod List:

If there is one thing you must understand about me, is that I had become quite the perfectionist when it came to my car. I wanted everything running and looking perfect, using only AMSOIL Motor Oil and BP/Amoco Ultimate Fuel Premium Gasoline. I'm religous about oil changes, performing them my-self at every 2000 miles. I could literally spend an entire day cleaning my car; I'm talking from sun up, till sun down. Inside first with: vaccuming, armoralling the leather/dash/trim, shampooing, then vaccuming again, windexing, exterior wash, wheel well scrub, rim polish, exterior wax(by hand with carbauna wax), tire shine, detail the engine bay, RainX ext. of windows, and polish the muffler baby.

My main goal for this car was to have a daily driver that is reliable. From the beginning it has never been to be the fastest or the most ridiculous, I have had enough car trouble already in my life to know better than to want to just break stuff because of ridiculous power(although that is cool sometimes).

Audio:
I'm not huge on "bumpin" so no crazy subs or amps (plus that adds a little un-wanted weight), just a good head unit and some nice speakers along with the stock amp is more than enough. I know, this may seem absolutely pathetic to those of you who are a little more audio centralized. Believe me I can respect a quality sound system, it takes alot of talent and creativity just to come up with something new and and unprecedented.

A Short List of Audio Components

Sony Xplod 6 1/2' 4-way's in front
Sony Xplod 6'X9's 4-way's in rear

 My Story: My DSM History

I'm 22 and I have owned 3 Eclipses and an EVO VIII. My DSM addiction started as soon as I got my drivers license and a job. It didn't take long till I had saved enough pennies to buy my first car, a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS(Piece of SH**). No it wasn't anything special but it was the only 2g body style eclipse I could find in my price range. Then after purchasing the car I started broadening my horizon by educating myself through "word of mouth" from friends and website forums, and figured out everything I was doing wrong. First of all it was the 420A N/A motor, second it was FWD, and thridly it was automatic. So what do I do, I'll tell ya, I spend seven months looking for the perfect eclipse.

The search ended on the day I e-mailed every Mitsubishi Dealership in the state of Illinois letting them know that if they had the car I was looking for I would buy it. Lunch time came around and sure enough Max Madsen in Downers Grove calls my cell and says, "Justin we have your car," I went there right after work and new I had to have it the second I laid my eyes on it. It was a Silver 1998 MItsubishi Eclipse GSX 5-speed. Just perfect, it had grey leather interior, that two toned grey/black trim and dash decor, bone-stock except for a K&N air filter and a cat-back exhaust system. It was in great shape and only had 58,300 miles. At $13,499 it was mine. I took her to the track to get a base time more or less, pulled a medioker 14.7@102, and it wasn't long till I wanted better. So I sold her exactly a year later for $14,000, and headed on to bigger and better things, yep that's right, I wanted an EVO VIII.

This took a little longer to save for seeing as it was 2005 and the EVO's had only been out for 2 years. Eight months of driving the family beater was just about enough to make me blow a head gasket mentally; so I started visiting Mitsubishi dealerships to play the number game. Well it didn't take long for my loved ones to figure out what I was doing, and they were outraged that I was going to drop ten grand on a down payment for a $35,000 car, and put myself in $25,000 worth of debt at the age of 19. I needed a new course of action. So I started looking online for a used one, but seeing as the cars were still fairly new it was hard to find one that didn't have a price tag similiar to that of a new one. Then it hit me, where can I find a used EVO VIII that hasn't had the abosolute piss beaten out of it and for a reasonable price...... CARMAX!

Sure enough a CARMAX in Kansas, Missouri had a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII with 6400 miles(no joke) for only $24,995. I had it shipped up here and within a week I was the proud new owner of a Yellow 2003 Mitsbushi Lancer Evolution VIII. It was gorgeous, I think somebody had garaged kept that bad boy because it had cob webs in the door jams, but it was well kept. It didn't have any blemishes besides a rock chip or two, but other than that it was spotless. Life was grand, everything was perfect and my turbocharged veins were coarsing with boost. To start I took her to GLD and on her first run in 97 degree weather with a bogged launch I pulled a 13.6@108 completely stock, no race gas, just the spare removed. On round two I got a little better launch but not much(It was so hot the Yokohama A046's just wouldn't ease up on the traction) and ran a 13.5@109 with a 1.8-60ft.

Well your not going to believe this but a mere three months after I bought the car, certain life events had me selling my beloved EVO VIII. Certain someones thought that I was miss placing my priorities concerning my career and education, and that I had too much invested in the EVO than in other aspects of my life. So to prove I thought it was just a car(don't get me wrong I loved the car) and not the most important thing to me in my life, I sold it. That was in June of 05' and in August of 05' I picked up my 4th and current DSM off a pregnant 27 year-old woman, a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 5-speed. It was in great condition with low miles so I bought her. I have visited every DSM website I could possibly find and did as much research as possible to decide the correct boosted path for my new pride and joy! This is where she was when I sold her...she put  down 311-wheel-horse-power and 295ft-lb-of-torque on 93 octane @20psi.
I hope you enjoy my ex-chariot and my page! Sign the guestbook and rate my ride if you get a chance!
