Here is part of the Dynamat process I went through. I am still adding more but here is what is done so far.
There is no rattling anywhere now. It sounds much better, and it passed the true test of sitting in the hot sun all day (98+ degrees) and still retaining rattle free music.
Applied Dynamat to the trunk.
It's really pretty easy. Take the carpet off the trunk lid and start applying. You can't see it from this picture but it is also applied across the entire back section of the trunk and I also put some behind the license plate.
Picture of rear deck after wiped down.
It was pretty easy to get it all disassembled. I have taken the seats and rear deck portion out about a thousand times by now so it went pretty quickly.
Dynamat applied to rear deck.
This really wasn't too difficult. I basically used the deck pieces laid out on the ground as templates. Then I made sure the pieces fit correctly before laying it all down. There is also a sheet or two of Dynamat on the underside of the rear deck inside the trunk.
Dynamat applied to 3rd brake light.
Part of the major source of rattling was coming from the 3rd brake light. Most of this is because it is a very loose click on fit. I use the dynamat to create a really tight fit so when you clicked it into place it took more effort. It now does not move at all when clicked in. In the picture you can see where I applied several layers to the corners to get the tight fit that was needed.
Foam applied to roof liner
There was a lot of rattling coming from the roof liner hitting the glass/roof. To fix this I took thes foam strips that have adhesive on the back of them and applied them to the roof where the edge of the liner is being careful not to have any sticking out. I didn't want to see this stuff in the car. After I got it in I noticed that there is something in the dead center about two inches back from the edge that the roof liner was also hitting. I am not sure what it was but I put some strips back further right over it and that solved the problem. I don't have a picture of the foam installed because you can't see it.
