One thing leads to another & on & on. People originally think it's as simple as just buying a lift kit, installing it & buying new tires! It's far from that simple. On a TJ, a lift requires: Coils, Shocks, new Track bar, rear Track bar relocation bracket, new extended brake lines, new CV driveshaft (which requires a SYE kit), new wheels (factory backspacing is to great), re-geared axles, steering stabilizer etc.. etc.. You can see how the Jeep flexes to accomodate the terrain, this is key to off-road traction Even with the axle fully articulated, the Jeep maintains a stable stance with all wheels on the ground!! This shot is of the opposite side of the Jeep at the same time as the above shot, you see how the 4 wheel coil and control arm suspension is a real improvement to past designs! As you can see in this shot of the rear suspension after the lift install, all items have been addressed. New adjustable helm jointed upper & lower control arms, OME gas charged shocks, massive Rubicon Express coils all make for a serious off road suspension!! In order to accomodate the extremly large canisters of the Old Man Emu shocks I had to buy Tera-Flex rear shock re-location brackets so that the canisters did not hit the lower spring perch. The ARB bull-bar front bumper & the Warn XD9000i winch, not only increase my saftey & off-road protection, they also look beautiful!! As is usually the case, one thing leads to another!! The winch needted way more power than the stock battery was able to offer. Enter the Optima Blue Top battery to save the day. This Deep Cycle 900 CA battery will hopfully never leave me stranded!! Typical of a Jeep I decieded to install an overhead light bar. I wanted one for function as well as looks, I off-road frequently at night & the overhead lights help a lot. The bar is loaded with 4x KC Daylighters. (update, this has since been removed so I can fit into my garage) When off-roading you quickly learn the value of a CB radio. Besides just talking to your companions, there are safty benifits to being able to comunicate with your fellow Jeepers!!
