We started with a wagon that had the motor removed, firewall damaged and transmission tunnel cut out by somebody who tried a motor swap in the past. The rear fenders had also been cut to make room for larger tires. Unfortunate as it's just more that now needs to be fixed.

We located a 1993 Jimmy which was actually in quite good shape, except for minimal damage on the drivers rear corner from an accident. It provides us with four wheel drive, a 4.3l vortec fuel injected motor, and many other smaller pieces of the build including wiring harness, steering column, seats, etc. The only picture of this vehicle which was a shame to wreck is in the disassembly stage

So far the chassis swap is nearing completion. Still haven't finished the cab mounts completely. I had initially fabricated weld on mounts but found that the jimmy frame must have a corrostion coating because it was too difficult to get a strong weld. A have now made mounts that will bolt onto the frame and just need to finish up welding. The motor has been moved back 5 inches as it sits way to far forward which wouldn't allow for a radiator. Brackets were fabricated out of thick steel plating which was actually a tedious but not difficult job. The transmission crossmember was moved back and driveshaft lenghts altered due to motor shift. The jimmy brakebooster even fits in quite neatly. The only major change required now is to correct the alignment of the rear wheels to the fenders.

As you can see the chassis we obtained is a couple inches longer which we knew at the time of purchase. I thought briefly about moving the rear suspension forward but the frame is reinforced at the spring hanger sites therefor it would be difficult to make this change without a lot of work to reinforce the frame also. Instead when we replace the rear fenders with the replacement panels which we obtained we will move the fenderwell back to match the wheels. The rear of the willys is excessive anyway so I believe it will actually look better with this change and at the same time people won't really be able to notice that we changed it.

Following are other pictures. I actually don't have current ones on the computer so they will follow in updates.

I had to do the same with my 53- 98 Toyota swap, except the wheelbase on the Toy truck was a perfect match. Just got mine running last week, will add pictures soon. Check it out (Toywillys)
