The Rabid Squirrel - Work in progress

My uncle and I Began work on the Zuk last October - What did I get myself into!!! Anyone who knows anything about Zuks in the NE knows that they are usually never rust free. In fact, far from it!! Especially when they are purchased for the low low price of 400 bucks! But my girlfriend is away to college and I needed a project to keep me out of trouble...so it was perfect. (Not to mention that I wanted to learn about body work and more mechanics to balance out the nerdiness my day job!)

First I will let you scroll through the progress pics with some explinations of my uncle and I's thought process on what/why we are doing some things.

As you can see...IT WAS A RUST BUCKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the first thing I got good (really good) at was cutting away the rust....Lots and Lots of practice on this job!!

We don't need no stinking wheel wells!!!

We started at the back of the zuk, and worked our way forward. I purchased wheel well from Central Tractor....Perfect fit for what My uncle and I had in mind.

Next we decided to do some "non traditional" fender flares. They came out nice I think.

We first welded in the arch for the flare...

Then cut out 20 arches and welded those in to give it the shape we wanted...

Filled the gaps with Great Stuff Gapp filler...

Then we sanded and glassed them...

Finally we used some Bondo to smooth everything out.
