Memorial weekend had time saturday and sunday to work on this car. The generator, coil, and distributor wiring needed sorting out, new, plugs rotor, ignition wires, antifreeze were put in Oil was golden and new from last change by previous owner. Turned the key and the starter wound up, but did not engage. By the time sunday afternoon rolled around the starter was fixed, only to discover a leaky timing cover gasket, drip drip drip goes the antifreeze. OH YEAH and the oil filter was not on right, so when the engine did turn over the oil came splashing out the top of the oil filter. Tuesday will install new spin on oil filter adaptor and new oil filter, and pull the rad to fix the timing cover leak. Wish me luck.
Tuesday 30 May, pulled the rad tigtened the timing cover bolts and installed the spin on oil filter adaptor. All leaks seem to have stopped. YAHOO!! Tried starting Sparky, named after my yougest son's nickname. He sputtered and farted, and backfired but did not run. I can tell he wants to. So Saturday I will drain the gas tank and put fresh gas and some octane booster in and try again. Also will do front brakes and begin sanding this weekend.
