Fuel System - 95' Impala Gas tank and pump

Note the height of the lines and sender.

The fuel tank is from a 95' Impala, it is plastic and is 2 or 3 gallon bigger that the stock 71 Chevelle tank. It already has internal baffles for EFI requirements and to keep the pump from staving.

I am using a Racetronix B-Body (GM Full Size) Pump Kit that includes a Walbro 255lph pump and there wiring kit that is heavy gage wire and relays that connects to the Alternator to ensure full voltage.

In order to mount the tank I had to modify the frame rails by removing about 1/4" from each side frame. I also had to build up the Chevelle's floor pan rail where the tank seats on.

I made a access panel to service the pump if needed and also due to the fact the the tanks area around the fuel lines are about 2-3" higher than the rest of the tank and if I didn't cut the floor pan, the tank would have had to sit another 2-3" lower.

I used some 1x1/8" metal to create the longer tank straps

The Tank does sit lower that the stock Chevelle in the rear area but should not be too much of a problem (just watch the speed bumps !)

Frame area that needed some triming on both sides

I was able to use the Chevelle mounting bolts for the Straps
