RandomActs13x's 1988 Chevrolet Camaro

This is my car, her name is Rachel. She is 1 of 1859 Camaro Convertible's ever built in 1988. It's completely stock right now, but I know F-bodies pretty damn well, so I can assure you it won't stay that way... LT1 is on the way!

I just made this page so bear with me. This page will be devoted to news about my car... like a journal.

---------------------------------------------

March, 2008: The finale

Rachel was sold for a mere $2,000. It was a sad day, with one final drive before delivery. I got my final picture taken at 82 mph through a speed camera and the middle finger in the air. She will be missed, but I'm going to keep this domain up as a memorial of that car.

Wednesday, July 26, 2006:

So I wake up this morning... my brother is getting ready to go to an interview and I tell him that when he returns I want to get the exhaust system off of his Firebird and put it on mine. He agreed. As I write this, he's at the interview... so I'm still waiting. As my brother was leaving the house he laughs and yells "were locked in!!" and I walk over to the front door and laugh because the USPS dropped off my package but wedged it between the steps and the door and we couldn't open the door. Of course we managed to move it, but I was just happy my package came. The package was the actuators for the tonneau release mechanism. I'm slowly upgrading my car from a base sport coupe vert to a fully equipped vert. I have my power window/lock kit coming, and I just got my pull-lever tonneau release! No more tilting the rear seat foward and pulling the ghetto strings!!!

Today I started my new job, which is hard to say weither or not I'm gonna keep it. After work I swung by the local speed shop and talked to my buddy who is gonna take care of my exhaust. He said that he wanted me to leave my car with him so he can take a look at the system and put it in the air to see how much work is gonna be needed to install the system. I should get the car back sometime tomorrow. This exhaust is going to sound incredible! I'll put up a video of the car with the new exhaust whenever I get a chance!

Wednesday, August 2, 2006:

So it's 1:20 in the morning and I can't sleep so I'm updating... but yesterday (Tuesday, August 1) I got the exhaust put and the cost was a little high ($316)... but I guess it was worth it. Since the exhaust was off of my brother's 1991 Firebird Convertible, there are little differences in the underbody between our cars because the exhaust didnt line up perfectly on mine, so the speed shop had to put in about a 4in extension to reach the stock y-pipe. The exhaust comes close to the driveshaft, which is common, and the e-brake cable almost lies on top of the pipes. The Firebird also had lower ground effects so the exhaust pipes could be tucked behind the body kit out of sight. The pipes were bent, when they were made, to fit like that, but the Camaro's exhaust systems had basically straight piping out the rear because the body kit didn't get in the way. So I'm going to have to cut off the curve and put on chrome exhaust tips straight out the rear to make it look good... It sounds incredible!! I couldn't believe that a sound like that could come from a crappy LO3 engine... much louder and aggressive sounding than Dynomax, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, or Borla... it almost sounds like Hooker, but not quite. Either way, it looks good, and I'm gonna compliment the entire system with Flowtech Headers and y-pipe soon.

Well... it's 7:20 in the morning, and in an hour I gotta be in a courtroom in Rockville because of the accident I had with my old Blazer. Some pathedic civic came out of no where going at least 40mph in a 30mph zone, on a foggy, dark morning at 6:45... I stopped and yeilded, and did nothing wrong... But as I was half way in the far lane (making a left out of the local burger king) this car came out of no where and smashed into the side of my truck behind the driver door with enough force to spin me into a 360 so fast that I blacked out... I was the one to call 911, but ironically, the fucking pig gave ME the ticket for failing to stop and yeild at "thru highway" ...he was the SECOND cop to show up to the scene, and neither cop was there to witness anything... The cop even said to me "I brought up your driving record, and honestly I think that your lying, and that your at fault... So i'm issuing you a citation for failing to stop and yield... got a problem with that then take it up with the court!" ...so todays the day I go to court... and I have a bad vibe about everything (naturally)...

So yea... in the past month my heater control valve has snapped and was replaced, my car overheated big time so I got a new aluminum radiator, and my fuel tank was leaking when full so I got a new fuel tank and a new fuel pump. And I am also considering selling it so if anyone wants to make a reasonable offer or trade (4th gen T/A is desireable) than let me know lol. I'm still getting a new engine, but I gotta take care of some debt right now, so that'll have to wait a while. I also lost my license from the last thing in the entry above... but I get that back in a little over a week...

Hahaha... I decided o race my friend Heather yesterday in her Mustang... shes got like a 1996 GT Convertible which is stock... so i figured it'd be an easy match. Normally because Rachel is a peg-legged, I can barely screech off the line when I punch it, and because the rear suspension is worn out the car shakes real bad from wheel hop. Figures that the one time i'm in a pretty bad mood and I needed to get some stress relieved, I punch it on dry pavement and the car goes almost completely sideways with the tire smoking lol, all the torque possible from that engine peaked at the line and I stayed right up with her mustang and started walkin but I had to slow down because of someone in my lane. Rachel is a very skitzo car lol, sometiems shes quick and sometimes she couldnt get outta her own way if it meant my life lol.

I've had one too many sour apple margueittas tonight, but yes! Yes, it's better! No for Sale Signs for that car -- it's too good looking and I like seeing it around town!
