Engine Swap: Part One
I recently had my engine swapped. I took out my SOHC Vtec d16y8 and put in a DOHC Non-Vtec b18b. I have plans for my car, and this engine is the one I needed to achieve them.
Right now I am running an OBX Air Intake, Airmass Headers, an Apex'i N1 Exhaust, Ractive Plug Wires, a Rage block gaurd, and an ACT Stage 3 clutch. I haven't been able to take it to the track yet because of problems, but hope to be running faster than I used to.
Here are some pictures I took during the swap.
Here is the block. It is a b18b1, and has a Rage block gaurd.
Here is the entire setup. You can see the ACT clutch to right of the stand on the floor.
Here is my old engine. It is a SOHC Vtec d16y8. My new engine only has 13 more horse, but it has more torque and lower compression.
Mike puts the final touches on removing any wiring and hoses that connect the engine to the bay. It's almost ready to be pulled out.
All of the hoses and wires that go to the d16 have been disconnected. All that holds it in now are the motor mounts.
Here comes the easy part. Chris is hooking up the chains to the old engine so we can pull that bitch out of there. Once we got it seated right, it come out easy.
Finally got the old engine out. If anyone wants it or any parts off of it, it is for sale. It is currently in PA, so if you are close you could pick it up or I might be able to arrange shipping it. E-mail me if you are interested.
It took a whole day, but we finally got it out. If you look to the rear of the engine bay you can see the end of my Apex'i N-1 cat-back. It doesn't need a catalytic converter, so it helps in turbo applications.
