This is a rare car. The turbos were made in 83 and 84. I remember reading that only some 300 or 400 were made. I don't recall if that was per year or total. I bought it off ebay on 11/02/02. It had 118544 actual miles. The interior is in bad shape and the frame is rusted out from the cab back, but it does run good and is unique. I need to take some better (newer) pics.

I have replaced the brakes and a balljoint. It came with a tailgate and wheels, which are now on it as in installed not as pictured:

It is a major work in progress. I haven't driven it much. One of the few times I drove it, resulted in losing a hub cap when a wheel came off which happened right after almost hitting a deer. It was the drivers side front and some of the floor is missing so I could see sparks as my wheel went off though the ditch. I never did find it. So this truely is a thrill ride;) It does have the seats in the bed. Nobody has been brave enough to ride in the back except in the yard.

Liked looking at your Brat and appreciate the work you'll be doing to put it back in better shape. I've been looking for a set of wheels like those pictured in your second photo. Any idea where I should start looking. I've checked on eBay and several of the parts sites but so far have found nothing, nothing at least like the white spoke wheels in your picture. Thanks for the help.

Hi Dennis. If you send me your e-mail address, I'll send photos of my '84 Turbo Brat. I just ordered a CD and hope to post one on Car Domain soon but you might enjoy seeing all 23 photos. My e-mail address is frankshahan@msn.com.

As for the number produced, it's been impossible to find a verifiable source but a few collectors from memory claim 400. I do know the production date was September, 1983 for the 1984 model year. Apparently, a few were titled as 1983's.

Just bought my '84 Turbo Brat this past September from a collector. Although it has 218,000 miles on it, it is super clean inside and out, white with red trim (originally maroon), no rust! Has automatic trans., factory A/C, power steering, cruise control with rear jump seats, roll bar, and a beautiful cap. Just today putting new brakes, rotors, rear brake wheel cylinders, ball joint, wheel alignment, etc.Has no leaks and exhaust system done recently by previous owner. I wasn't looking for a turbo brat---just a brat but sure am glad to have found this one. We have a nice '86 non turbo brat with cap but I'm with you---love this turbo brat!
