This was my great-grandmother's car, which she bought new after my great-grandfather died. She didn't drive it much...the grocery store, the hairdresser and Mass once a week.
When she quit driving in her late 80s she sold it to me for $1,000 (a steal because I'm the oldest grandchild...thus the favorite). When it arrived in my driveway it had 12,451 miles on it...and this is after a 3 hour drive from near Louisville.
Almost three years later I've got it up to about 28,100 miles. I'm practically running the wheels off it.
I want to keep the car pretty much stock, mostly because my great-grandma recently passed away and this is my direct connection to her memory, but I also hate riced-out American cars. That's just a horrible thing to do.
I replaced the stock AM/FM radio with a Pioneer DEH-1600 head and the two old stock 5.25" factory speakers with 5.25" Sony XPlod speakers. No amps, no subs, just a tasteful swap for better sound.
The engine I've left alone. I bought a K&N air filter to replace the paper one and saw a marked imporvment in response and a mild improvment in gas mileage. Sucked paying about $40 for an air filter, though.
