This is my 1.6 8v Carb MK1! This is absolutely my pride and joy!

The car has seen MANY mods indeed

When I got the car in August 2005, it was stock standard.

When I got it, it had a single light, small badge grille, that has been updated to a double light, big badge grille with some red striping...

I've installed some sound:
Pioneer DEH-2950MP head unit,
Two Pioneer 6"X 9",
Pioneer 5" mids and a set of
Pioneer tweeters
Kenwood 1000w SVC sub and a
Calibra 600w 4ch amp

I've also resprayed the bumpers and colorcoded the mirrors. With that, I fitted a Jetta 2 CLi front lip.. I love it

1600carbster's 1992 Volkswagen CitiGolf

It's got a 50mm freeflow exhaust coupled with a Wildcat 4-2-1 branch (header)
A 268/272 split duration cam helps for some extra power
The standard induction has been modded to allow for some RAM air...

1600carbster's 1992 Volkswagen CitiGolf

I fitted some VeloCiTi (Lupo GTi wheels abroad) wheels in January 2006!
This drastically changed the look of the car!!
The Velo wheels are going in for a respray this week (9Nov2007)

1600carbster's 1992 Volkswagen CitiGolf

On the suspension side of things, an Eibach pro-kit found a new home on my car, and a front lower strutbrace betters the handling as well. The lower look, makes the car look much more aggressive, and gives it a sense of presence...

I also joined the VW CLub of SA. It is a place for the absolute VW fanatic. With many events and social outings, it sure is the best club to be a member of!

I still have to go and dyno the car now that I fitted the 268/272 split duration, but I am hoping for 80+ od hp and 120+ odd Nm of torque ON THE WHEELS

A CTi centre console, with the three guages installed, also found a home in my car...

1600carbster's 1992 Volkswagen CitiGolf

This is where my rev counter sits, because my car didn't come standard with a rev guage fitted. (DIY guage pod)

1600carbster's 1992 Volkswagen CitiGolf

For a bit of added appeal, I got 35% Smash and Grab tint...

1600carbster's 1992 Volkswagen CitiGolf

The past two weeks have seen some slight changes on my car...
I "smoked" my front indicator lenses

1600carbster's 1992 Volkswagen CitiGolf

I blacked out the B-pillars (the part between the front and rear doors)

1600carbster's 1992 Volkswagen CitiGolf

I changed the rear end of the car a bit by spraying the part where the number plate is fitted black...

07 November 2007: Fitted a Citi.Com/Life steering wheel.
I really dig the OEM look of the new steering wheel!

LATEST INDUCTION MOD:
I sourced a Fuel Injection aircleaner box from the trustworthy MP9 EFI golf models...and...well...I fitted the box
The car now has this deep burble sound under full throttle...AND SHE PULLS WAY BETTER!

1600carbster's 1992 Volkswagen CitiGolf

No huge mods done lately, just removed the Bee sting aerial and got me a windscreen mounted indoor aerial...just to get that minimalistic look again

1600carbster's 1992 Volkswagen CitiGolf

And changed the vwclub.co.za stickers to the blue version

18 August 2008
So a shitload has happened to my car since my last update!
I changed my shock absorbers to KONI STR-T sport shocks! Makes a helluva difference!
Also fitted a rear anti roll bar onto my back axle, and boy, do I have great lift-off oversteer around bend nowadays!
But the biggest modification has come in the form of the motor!
I stripped out my 1600cc carb motor, and with the help of great and knowledgeable mates, we rebuilt it to an 1800cc FUEL INJECTED (Bosch MP9) spec!
Now it's sporting KS pistons, a forged 1800 crank, a ported and flowed big valve head and a hotter cam! I also got the bottom end balanced for good measure.
And she pulls very nicely! Improved torque and power, improved fuel consumption and a huge smile on my face every time drive her!
Here are a few pics of the conversion:
