I have painted the front of the engine in prep to put on the intake, chrome valve covers and such:
Still working away on the old girl. Got some cool IS 300 mufflers I am gonna slap on to exit at the cab corners, this will rock!
January 9 2007: UPDATE: Old Blue is getting OVERHAULED. Her doors are removed, and the bench seat is out and the old seat belts removed. I will start on repairing the floor pans next. The engine is alot cleaner and Gord & I will be replacing the intake with a Torker 2, and adding chrome BBC valve covers, a chrome air cleaner with a K&N filter.
December 27 2006: Old Blue has come home to the shop. She is no longer going to be a donor truck for my '81 Crew Cab. I am going to restore this '73 one ton and drive it. It has sat for 6 years on my in-laws acreage and she fired right up. My crew Cab will need front end work so for now Old Blue will be the shop/track/rescue truck. We will put the golf cart, tools and tool boxes on the back and we are set. She is gonna be so happy to get back to work again. I got headers for Xmas for her so the new year is gonna be busy. OLD BLUE RIDES AGAIN!!!!
I bought this one from my brother-in-law Tom in April 2006. It has a 454 on propane and a TH400 tranny with a tranny cooler the size of most 4 cylinder car's engine rads.... It is a flat deck with a fifth wheel hook up. This 73 has a new engine and tranny but the floorboards are rusted out and the body needs some work. The engine has a steel crank and forged rods and was built to haul a gooseneck trailer with 6 horses and a chuckwagon. She drives straighter than my boyfriend's new 2004 F350 (snicker). This truck is a survivor. She was bought new and has been a farm truck most of her life.
