The Red car club :) We Camaros were tagging along at a Shelby club event so it was fun to represent the days enemy ha ha
UPDATE 11/24/08
Did another Cruise the Crest up Angels Crest highway here in SoCal. I try to make it for the monthly outing each time. Managed to get a couple pics and some crappy video before the camera battery died.
Video is now uploaded. Here you go...
Cruise the Crest - Nov 2008 from Chad Ryker on Vimeo .
UPDATE: Installed a Mark VIII fan to replace the rediculously loud spal fan (just watch vid at bottom of this page to see what I mean).
Update 9/26/08 Finally got the car back on the road after what seems like forever. Between moving, buying a boat, throwing out my back and some mechanical gremlins 2008 has been a bad year for the car. I did get some new rims and tires though.
I took over this 68 Camaro project which was in the middle of assembly. The car was in the assembly phase of the project when I bought it, but it didn't drive, didn't have brakes, didn't have any interior, didn't have any glass, etc. Some of the pictures on this site will show work performed before I bought the car and some after.
Current specs of the car: (everything below is either new or completely rebuilt/upgraded)
Engine & Drive train mods • ZZ4 350CI SBC • ZZ4 Hot Cam • Holley stealth ram EFI powered by the commander 950 with wideband upgrade. • Doug Thorley headers • GM serpentine belt system with automatically adjusting tensioner • Aluminized exhaust • Aluminum radiator and overflow bottle • T56 6 speed transmission out of an LS1 Camaro (rebuilt by T56 rebuilds.com). • ATS transmission crossmember • Weir products t56 install kit (highly recommend not using this kit. Get ATS instead) • B&M ripper shifter • 8.5" 10 bolt with Eton posi and 3.73 gears. • Tom’s axles
Brake mods Every component from the M/C to the rotors was replaced. • Front brakes are factory 69 style. • Rear brakes are C4 calipers and rotors. • Stainless steel hard lines, front & front to rear. Rear lines are mild steel. • All brand new E-brake cables and hardware
Steering & Suspension • Quick turn IROC power steering box • Brand new front steering kit from Vette Brake Products including performance tie rod sleeves & poly components. • Hotckis 2” lowering coil springs • Hothkis rear leaf springs (2” or 3” drop) • Hotchkis 1 1/8" anti-sway bar • Hotchkis revalved Bilstien shocks • Bonspeed 17" rims • BFG rubber 245 front and 275 rear.
Interior and other misc items • Optima battery located to trunk • All new wiring throughout the entire car using Painless wiring. • Delta brand Xenon H4 conversion headlights powered by a painless relay kit. • Autometer Phantom gauges • Damplifier Pro sound deadening. Floor and outer sheet metal done. Still need to do inner door pannels and am debating the trunk. • Overkill soundproof foam installed in same places as Damplifier Pro • Lokar cable operated throttle pedal (early chevy style. DO NOT USE THIS PEDAL. Instead use the universal Lokar pedal). • Arizen racing sport seats • Vintage air (surefit). still need to wire the compressor and have a custom hose made for the evap to compressor. Not a big fan of this kit.
Still left to complete: • Restore the wiper arms/assembly and install • Restore original wiper motor or possibly replace with newer style such as DSE's. UPDATE: Got the new DSE wiper motor for Christmas 2008. Need to restore the wiper assembly and install everything. • Install headliner, sail pannels and all the associated items (such as visors). • Get hoses and wiring for A/C compressor finished and have A/C system charged • Finish sound proofing the doors. •
Future plans include: • Possibly retrofitting a newer alluminum style master cylinder • Modo inovations pedal covers UPDATE: Got these for Christmas 2008 too. Installed in January 2009 but need to snap some pics (after I vacum my carpet ha ha) • Enhance the astectics of the stereo install • Additional speakers and amp UPDATE: Received a Kicker ZX350.4 amp for Christmas 2008. Installed it in January and new Polk Momo 6x9's in the rear. I have 6" polk momo's that I will probably install in the doors but still working up the nerve to cut into em. • Possibly replace door and quarter pannels. • Cold Air Intake • Sub frame connectors
Wishful thinking includes: • LS2 engine • Mini tub rear
• AFX tall spindles • C6 front brakes
Some pics from 11/18/07
I was working with a coworker from the Netherlands who was a fan of the American Muscle car so we shot this vid one day while on lunch break. Yes that is my obnoxious electric fan you hear in the first part of the vid.
