UPDATE 06July2007 near the bottom of the page
Parts I have bought and are being installed
These I tried to do the install myself but messed the timing up and did major damage to the engine. Hence buying the other parts so soon.

I have also bought some Wiseco forged pistons 8.9:1 compression, Egale forged rods, and Ferrea Valves and spring kit.

A performance shop in Portsmouth Virginia is doing the work they are called Millennium Racing Development.
I went to Millennium on the 23rd and they arnt done yet. The head just got back from the machine shop getting its 3 angle valve job done. They have the the block acid dipped, rods and pistons in the block, valves, springs, and the cams put back in the head. The block deck has been plained. The head surface has been plained. The only thing left to do is put the head back on, set the timing and put the engine back into the car. They said it sould be done by friday the 1st of June at the latest.
I'm calling Millennium today at noon and see whats up and see if they are even close to being done with it. I'll post up again later on an update of what they had to say.
Well i got a hold of them. They are saying friday at the earliest
I called them again today. They had an issue putting the engine back together but they finaly got done with it. tomorrow they are finishing putting the engine in and are going to run it on the dyno for me and see where the HP lvls are at and to make sure everything is good to go. It will be ready for my pick up on tuesday.
I got a call from millennium. The car is ready for me to pick up but ill be busy with work all day so i wont get to pick it up. They gave me their dyno resaults and i say im pleased. 149 whp 132 wtrq. now to just get it back and get some new track times.
UPDATE 10June07
I called millennium on saturday to see what was up while i was gone from VA. They said that they heard a grinding metal on metal noise coming form the engine while on the dyno. They took the valve cover off and cranked it over by hand. Turned out the timing chain was rubbing on the chain guide. As they turned it over they seen the intake cam wabbling a lil bit. After more investigation it turned out the Keyway on the cam gear was rounded out. So the 149 whp dyno was read with the malfunctioning part. The new part came in and the guy that was supose to be doing the work was at a drifting event with his car. So monday they are supose to be putting the new ones and finishing up the car and re-dyno it. I'd say that should be good for 2 or 3 more hp at the wheels. If i put out 152whp on the new dyno read, that will have me matching my buddies Cobalt SS/NA for hp at the wheels.
UPDATE 23June07
Well they have it finihsed. The car will be ready for pick up on Wednesday the 27th. I'll be back in VA on July 2nd. I should have pictures of the engine work, new videos and sound clips up by the 3rd or 4th. They also gave me the new dyno read out, 151 whp and 146 wtrq.
UPDATE 29June2007
Well the car is done, I got to hear it over the phone today. Sounds really good, I can't even describe how it sounds lol. They are having a new issue though. The battery is not holding a charge. Either the battery is no good or the alternator isn't working properly. I don't know how much trouble shooting they have done with this as of yet because I got underway today with the ship. I'll be keeping in contact with some friends i have entrusted with my car via email. When I know more I'll keep you guys posted. I've never been more excited about going back to home port then now.
UPDATE 30June2007
Got an email from my friends this morning. They will not be able to pick it up for me so I will be picking the car up monday myself. Still don't know if it was the battery or the alternator. I did get a hold of another friend and he told me that we are going to go get it monday reguardless if the find out if it is the battery or the alernator. He said that he will run tests on them his self and we will fix whatever it is.
(just in 11:30pm 30June2007)
It's not the battery or the alternator. The guage pod i installed some how got shorted out and is draing juice from the battery. The car will be ready for my pick up first thing monday morning. I'll have video up on my photobucket account by 4pm Monday. So keep your eyes open. I'm also going to close this page 5 out as well and I'll be opening up a page 8 for links to video and new pictures. Thanks for keeping an interest in my work!
Update 06July2007
I got a phone call yesterday from Millennium but i missed it because i had my phone turned off. They called about 30 min before they closed. I check my messages at 9pm and they called saying that they found the problem. It turned out that it wasnt the guage pod because that didnt fix the issue. It was a wire to a sensor that was pinched between the motor mount and the engine. I have duty today so i can pick it up. I am going to pick it up tomorrow morning at 11am. Right as the doors open. I'll make sure to be there early so i can ride in this thing finaly after all this time
