Ahhhh. The joys of sound deadening a car. Sure it can be a major pain in the ass but the results are ungodly. I Started off by purchasing 60sqft of Secondskin Damplifier. For now I plan on doing the two front doors and possibly some of the Trunk. As time progresses I'll end up doing the entire car.
Here we go again. First off stripped the door. Removed the vapor barrier and attacked the door with a combonation of GooGone, Brake Cleaner, and WD40. After alot of work I got it pretty damn clean
Here you see a few strips on. I'm trying to get as much of the inner and outer skin as possible.
A Shot of the inside. Looks messy now but I shall be going over it several times to smooth it out.
Last picture of the day. Sun was going down and I was damn tired. Tommorrow I tackle the job of closing up the large holes in the door. I have to be carefull as my car has a funky window mechanism. What you see right now is 8 sheets of Damplifier. With 10 sheets equaling 20Sqft I see myself as right on the money. I planned on 10-15 Sheets per door.
Trunk Time! Took the carpeting off and glared at the clean meal underneath.
First I Filled in the holes with 2 layers(One layer inside the hole, 1 layer overlapping the extends of the holes.
Here you see The finished Product. Some areas have as many as 5 overlapping layers. The lowest at any point is 2 layers
Another angle of the finished product.
Carpeting is back on. You can only see the shiny material from one place. Where the black wire wrap comes out of. And thats barely noticable even when upclose.
More to come...
