My name is Jon and this is my '88 plymouth voyager.
My van has the 3.0l SOHC Mitsubishi built engine and the 3 speed automatic transmission. It currently has 176,547 miles on it.

you know that thing is begging for the power of a 3.3!!!

Actually the 3.3 harness is simpler than it looks... really easy. If you already have the 3.0 harness in there, it's a matter of moving some pins around, and using a 3.3 ECU.

The A604 has a bad reputation, true... but it's mostly because of what vehicle they're in, and and the type of drivers typically operating those vehicles (soccer moms driving a caravan to death, etc.). Minor updates can make them a really good tranny, and substantially increase their longevity (usually longer than the engine). A complete rebuild with all updated parts, including the valve body and solenoid pack, with kevlar clutchpacks, will make it almost indestructable.

If you don't want to swap in a 3.3, don't do it... but if you're gonna swap an engine, why not??? It's just an idea, not many 1st gen minivans have that engine (only ones that had engine swaps). Everything should bolt up fine, the 3.3 and 3.0 use the same mounting locations, but different mounts (almost 100% sure, may want to ask around on allpar if you eventually decide to do it).

I smoked a Camaro with my Dynasty today, and I haven't even done the 3.8 rods and crank swap yet... It's gonna be so fast. I may break engine mounts though, I already eat them like cake with the mods I have now.

Hmmm. I heard you spun a bearing... Interested in a 3.3 swap? I've got lots of ideas that would give a 3.3 almost 300WHP, but when it's all done, it'll actually be a 3.6.

You don't happen to be on allpar, do you? for some reason that engine compartment looks familiar.
