Meet "Violet", my 1997 Chrysler Sebring JX convertible. I recently purchased this magnificent car for the wholesale price of $4000. This car comes with all power features, tan leather seats, 4 speed auto transmission, power top and the 2.5 DOHC V6. All I have done to this car so far, is fix any and all cosmetic problems (including removing that embarrassing "Proud Parent of an Honor Roll Student" bumper sticker), tightened the front suspension, replaced the brake pads, and cleaned the interior.
This car is simply fun to drive. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly, and seems to be in unison with the car's handling and exceptional low end torque. The 2.5 lets out an aggressive purr, as though to ward off demons. This comes as a shock, since the styling of the car gives a more feminine, more "Damsel In Distress" impression to the untrained eye.
As for handling, I would say it is definitely more hypnotising as a topless convertible than it is a rag top coupe. When the top is on, you tend to hear the chassis rattle, and feel every pothole you run over. The ride seems more "horse carriage" than automobile, and you just can't wait for 70+ degree weather, so you can put the top down. However, when the top is down, this auto simply wisks all your troubles away. The ride is considerably smoother, and there is no chassis noise. Just the sweet sound of the engine's purr, and music blasting out of the Infinity Premium Sound System.
Other mods to come will include new speakers, custom wheels, Mercedes Benz rear view mirrors with LED, a performance intake manifold with cold air setup, wood grain accents to the interior, an updated grille, and possibly a lowered profile, but until then, I can't help but enjoy this beautifully stunning summer cruiser.
