This is my 1990 Limited Edition 7-UP Mustang. It is extensively modified w/ road handling in mind. I'm constantly reviewing and updating/modifying pieces. It originally was an AOD, but switched to a 5-speed in 1995. All work except rear gear installation and interior roll bar covering were done by myself. Adjustable UCA's are slated for this winter to alleviate a vibration due to pinion angles being off.
This is a copy of the original window sticker. I still have the original which is in great shape, but used this at car shows.
This is an original copy from the Dealer Promotional Guide given to dealers to acquaint them with car. It explains about contest w/7-UP and their advantage of using this material to sell this vehicle.
These are some photos of when I installed the electric fan w/DC Controller. As you can see it fits quite nicely with plenty of clearance for supercharger pulley. Fan is from an SVT Contour and works beautifully. Easily mounted to my Griffin 2 core radiator. The coiled wiring harness on the floor is an LED light that changes from red to yellow to green depending on power used by fan. It's mounted inside on panel directly under radio. Wiring was a snap. FYI: 130 amp alt & associated wiring is mandatory for this upgrade
I installed an Autopower 6pt rollbar and had it custom covered with the factory vinyl door panel material. The cover is removable and I think a great job was done especially on the rear seat mods where the bar passes into the back next to the seat back.
I installed the CH Engineering dbl adjustable uppers and took some pics. They were fairly easy to install and adjust. Got my pinion angle a little better and we'll see when we drive it if the vibration is gone.
The 1990 Limited Edition Mustang was originally meant for a joint 7-UP/Ford contest. The contest was scheduled in 1990 during the NCAA "Final Four" Basketball Finals in Memphis, Tenn. After which Ford was going to release some vehicles for public sale. For some reason, they didn't wait and threw the contest into a tizzy. 7-UP backed out, took the delivery of contest cars and according to some employees had an in-house contest giving away approx. 34 cars.
I bought the car new in Feb. '91 during the Gulf War when car sales were abysmal and deals were-a-plenty. My wife drove it for 3 years until the modifcation bug really hit. It had 5K miles by then and was relatively new. We stopped using it during the winter (stored) and I started doing work.
It now has a prod block 30over with stock rotating assembly. I first added an Erson "shelf" cam. Too much overlap for a blower. I then spoke with Ed Iskenderian and had a custom cam ground. Idles great and passes emissions in NJ which is no easy feat. It also has Edelbrock alum heads. Heads were ported, polished and port matched. Roller rockers and hardened pushrods along w/ a GT-40 intake and a polished Vortech S-Trim also was included. The AOD was upgraded by Level-10 racing automatics but was changed to a 5-speed shortly after. A Tremec TKO w/ a Center Force dual friction clutch and scattershield was added. I went with an alum D/S and the rear gears were changed from the factory 3.27's to 3.73's. I also added a Torsen 31 spline diff and Moser axles. 4 Wheel discs were added along with all the chassis stiffening products available to the Mustang. FRPP springs were also added to lower it. 245-45/ZR-17 Michelins and ROH ZR-6 wheels came next. Equal length headers and a Dynomax cat-back sytem were installed. (Everyone has Flowmasters). My interior has Cobra Daytona seats done in leather and a 6 point rollbar was added and covered in the factory door panel material. I also installed the 3G 130 amp alternator so I could also add an electric fan. I bought the Delta Current Controls dual fan w/controller. It ramps up and down slowly with no spikes to the electrical system. Nice piece. This car is a blast to drive. It has only 44K on it now. Has seen numerous SAAC conventions and has driven at speed on Nascar's Charlotte (Lowes), Atlanta and SCCA's Lime Rock Raceway in CT. Hope you like my car as much as I do. Thanks for looking!
Please sign my guestbook and rate vehicle. Your comments and criticisms are welcome and help me make my car better.
Please look at my daily driver, a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville GXP. A rare but nice car.
