“Obcession”

    • Currently 3.6/5 Stars.

My ride sitting at home after bringing it home for the first time, its a 2000 Special Edition, Mahogany Mica with tan leather interior, Nardi wood steering wheel & Shift knob, 15 inch alloy wheels, 6 speed tranny, Torsen limited slip differential and a Bose Audio System. (Pretty much the stock Special Edition when I started)

I'm just getting started with the customazation, mostly cosmetic to start with. I'm a ham Radio operator and the first order of business is to get the "Rig" installed. I'll be runing HF/VHF and UHF with a Yaesu FT-857D. I have a dual band UHF/VHF antenna that is on a foldover trunk mount and a HF Hi-Q-5/80RT "Screwdriver" antenna that will be hitch mounted.

Work Completed:

Boss Frog Double hoop Roll Bars
AEM short Ram: (Installation pages 2 & 3)
VDO Oil Sender, Gauge and Idiot Light Modification
Thompson Oil Filter Relocation kit installed
Auto Dimming Mirror with temperature & compass (Page 4)
Hard Dog trailer Hitch installed (Page 4)
removed "Baby teeth"
Added lights to rear sidemarkers
Front & Rear side markers functional as turn signals
Thompson Automotive Air Horns
Fluidic Washer nozzles

01+ exhaust manifold & EGR Tube, welded in O2 Bung
Cool Breeze Scoop
Tein Shock Tower Brace
Dedicated winter tires on the OEM wheels

Dedicated Summer wheels- 15" Enkei RP-F1 with 205/50/R15 General Exclain UHP

cool air box

Racing Beat 1.125" front Sway Bar

Coil on Plug conversion

Paint brakes (Red)

Racing Beat Power Pulse Muffler

Rear bumper cover mod

Coolant Reroute

Lotus Diffuser with Rear Grille

FM frame rails

McGard Spline Drive lug nuts

Maintenance performed:

New spark plugs
New Brake Pads
Replaced Vacuum lines
Cleaned intake manifold
Changed Tranny oil (Redline MT-90)
New rubber shifter boots
Changed Differential Fluid (Redline 75-90)

Cleaned intake and EGR Valve

Well, the Miata has definately taken on a life of its own. Mods are now becomming more performance oriented, and I've never really used the ham radio in it. Seems the more I do to this car, the more I want to do! This has got to be the most fun car I've ever owned!!

Comming Soon: Rotrex Supercharger

Nice car Larry!I'm in the process of acquiring a similar 2000 SE from IA.It is far away, but the car worth the trouble.I'm in West of Dulles A/P and hope to visit to see your mods.I plan to install some of the improvements similar to yours and would like to get some idea and experience from you if you don't mind.David

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I hardly ever check in here anymore. I'd be happy to show off my mods and help you with whatever I can. My car has been relegated to the garage for the moment. I started using a lot of oil and the compression on all cylinders was nonexistent. I've bought a used engine that will hopefully arrive this coming weekend.I'll get it installed along with the other mods I'm working on over the winter. You gen get hole of me directly by E-Mail at bossfrog@live.com
