This is shortly after we bought this car in 1999. My wife wanted a 70-72 Chevelle for a driver car for herself. After looking at a couple dozen overpriced rustbucket Chevelles in the price range we were looking at. I brought her to look at this car. The seller had installed the fender skirts before we arrived and my wife would hardly look at the car. Being a hard core pontiac fanatic and actiually liking the look of the skirts, knowing that this was a relatively low production car too (most Luxury Lemans' were 4 doors) I talked her into buying it so that I could "make it work" for her. It was still about a year before she would drive it. By then I had replaced the carpets, weather strips, rebuilt the front suspension, new tires with Ralley wheels, Flo-pro mufflers/new exhaust, recovered the front seat, replaced the vinyl top, tinted the windows. That is quite a list but the wife is starting to like the car!!!

This car still has the original paint. This is also a local car. It had been transfered from one owner to another over the years but they were all in the same family. When we bought the car is had almost all of the registrations for the last 28+ years. It was bought at the local Puyallup, Washington Pontiac Dealer in 1972.

I found a shot of the day we came home. As you can see, the original vinyl top was body colored. I was kind of glad that I could not find that color vinyl top available....lol so we went with black for the replacement. You can also see that the car came home with the original chrome mirror on the drivers side only. I replaced this with a pair of sport mirrors from a junkyard. Timing was good the next week I wnet back and there was hardly a part left on the wrecking yard car. At least I got the mirrors!
