I then started with the cage....look closely, this is not your standard cage!
I started by bending and fitting the main hoop in the car. It was tough to install with the tight tolerances...this cage has to fit perfectly.

After fitting the main hoop I went under the car and measured and marked for the placement of the cross member.

After the cross member was in place I started with the A-Pillar bars going forward of the main hoop. I split the metal so that the tube would fit inside...the stock trim will fit perfectly over the tubing....even the dash will mount back in the same location.

I removed the fender wells...to look at clearance issues and play with the look and ride heights etc. You will see later, I used jacks and jack stands to basically set the body at ride height and use an axle that I cut and weld together for the rear wheel spacing.
After measurements and heights are checked and looked over, I cut the entire inside of the car out.

The cardboard template was taken to a shop down town, scanned and the pieces water jetted out.
As you will see I then sized (mocked up) and welded the pieces together...Two of the four inside seams are TIG welded complete. I also welded the outside seams.

After I welded the rails in, I went back and made the top and bottom plates to finish them off.

I split the interior(structural/webbing)and fished the tubing through. Later I went back, welded and ground the seams closed, strengthening and cleaning it up!

This is a pic of the initial look at the car with the wheels and tires just set under the fenders.
