Project "Dark Horse" consists of taking a '69 mustang and putting in a blown 5.4L modular motor out of an '03 Ford Lighting. I will let the pictures do the talking and I think that you will agree that this mustang is taking custom fabrication to a whole new level.

-The vehicle will have a 4-link rear suspension, Afco double adjustable coil over shocks, the front is an aftermarket kit with tubular A-Arms, full disc brakes(baer), full hidden roll cage (chrom-1 5/8"), custom exhaust with a one of a kind cross-over muffler with the exhaust tucked up under the car exiting through the body in front of the rear tires (like the Dub City model that you see below), custom Tig welded frame rails, adapted shifter out of an '06 Mountaineer.

-Front wheels are 20x8.5s and the rears are 22x10s (Budnick).

-Hand formed wheel tubs to resemble a stock look.

This is a Dub City model that I found at Walmart. This should give you an idea of where this project is going.

The first pictures will give you an idea of what the car started out looking like. I failed to get pics of the car with the tires still on it.

I started the project with a rolling chassis...the car's motor and tranny had already been removed. I began stripping the interrior, fuel cell, fuel lines, suspension, etc, etc, off the car. I removed a few of these initial pics....borrrring!! So I could get to the good stuff. I have taken a lot of pictures so I will try and be selective so that there are minimal redundancies. The last thing I want is a bored audiance :O).

My brothers helped me with some of the disassembly, which I really appreciated! After everything had been stripped off I started with cutting the original strut towers out, cleaning the frame rails and locating the new cross member. This is a mustang II type front suspension kit out of California.

The cross memeber and frame rails had to be altered a bit.
