There it was! If you're gonna buy an engine, you might as well go big.
New MSD ignition setup. Pro-billet distributor, 6AL box, blaster 2 coil, 8.5mm super conductor wires. Also a holley high flow fuel pump and my 2.5" full length exhaust is in the big white box underneath it all. Flowmaster super 40's in there too.
Demon 750 double pumper to sit on the RPM Air Gap manifold on the engine.
Dynomax ceramic coated headers.
A look at the 305 that came out. Not a bad engine. Other than the knocking ...
The 383, prepped and ready!
Mated with the trans (still stock TH350, that'll change next year) ... going in!
Yes! Still working on getting it running.
The headers are on. The left header had some clearance issues with the transmission, which resulted in some grinding. :( It took all day to get that header in right. Had to jack up the car high enough to fit the header up in there, pull the starter, grind the trans, test fit the header, see that it hits, grind some more ... take the header out to make room, jack up the car more ... you get the picture. Note to people without a car lift, if it's a tight squeeze, tie the headers in the engine bay BEFORE you drop the engine in place.
New respiratory system. 2.5" all around, Flowmaster Super 40's.
We got the Demon and MSD distributor in. Lots of timing/idle issues. Barry Grant really needs to get on their quality control issues. There were shavings in the passages, the "idle EZE" is NOT, it was stuck and the baseplate needed to be removed to break it free, and there was LOCKTITE in the vacuum port. Hello? I spent good money on this carb, what the hell ...
So, we tried a Holley 750 vac secondaries on there just to try it. We also changed out the distributor.
Neither really worked too well, the Demon has more throttle response and didn't bog. So we went back to the Demon and MSD. Got our timing issues worked out finally!
Here we are, done:
