Summer 2008:  New floors in, painted interior pieces black, new carpet in, tires, suspension.

Spring 2008: New pictures of interior overhaul on page 7 and VIDEO!

Just a few revs and walkaround.

Winter 2007: new pictures of interior overhaul on page 6.

Fall 2007: new pictures of the 700R4/exhaust install on page 5.

Spring 2007: new pictures on page 4.

Special thanks to my dad. Without him, NONE of this would have been possible. Well, maybe it would be possible, but it would have taken a HELL of a lot more time than it did! :)

This is my 1978 Monte Carlo, saved from Western NY salt/snow death for $2000. I've always loved the third gen Montes, and when I heard "78 black Monte, in good shape, first 2k", I had to have it! It used to have stock: 305, TH350, exhaust/manifolds, gears, pretty much everything. It did have an aluminum 2bbl intake on it (nice surprise). It made good power, could lay nice rubber and got about 20mpg highway!

Of course, now it has a slightly ... faster engine in it. More details about THAT on page 2. :)

The cragar SST's are really the only thing not-stock (along with the alum 2bbl) that I got with the car. When we got it they were rusting and peeling and weren't anything special.

But they cleaned up REALLY nice with a little bit of CLR ! Still a little peely and flaky, but not too shabby.

Another nice '78! I like the red to black interior conversion as well, I didn't have the guts. The car looks great. Parts of my interior plastic had faded to pink also, though I re-painted the original red.
