I thought that beings we are all here to display our projects that I would post a couple pictures of the latest project that I have actually finished! In the background is my shop. This is about 150 feet from the house. This is the walking path (There is a nice driveway to get to the garage too). I have walked this steep path to the shop for years. On many ocasions, usually when I am carrying something heavy, The ground slips from under my feet. I finaly decided that I needed some outdoor stairs.

My favorite bitch is always standing close by! This is by far the best dog we have ever had. I pity the UPS guy if he does not show up with a dog treat! Alot of look but she is really a lap dog.
Here are both of the kids! Max is the puppy laying down. He is a total spaz!!

This is a trailer project that I have been slowly working on. It was an old boat trailer that a friend of mine gave to me. In this picture you can see a few pieces of 3" square tube that has some blue paint. These pieces and the four spring perches are the only steel parts that I salvaged from the old trailer. The 3" steel channel and 2"x1-1/2" angle is all new.
I reconditioned the axle and replaced the bearings and races.
I primed and painted the new steel as soon as I could to prevent any surface rust. I was just avoinding the work of stripping the old paint off the other pieces. I bought a nasty ass wire wheel for my grinder. This made relatively quick business of the paint removal!!

I have primed all of the steel with a product that I'm testing prior to using it on my '65 Wagon project car. It is "Master Series Silver" The claim is that it is a moisture cure rust encapsulating primer that can endure an extreme amount of salt sray testing. Gee, it all sounds good! Time will tell. The primer does go on very nicely and seems to be some tough stuff. Like the instructions said, I put two coats of this on before the final topcoat of paint.
Then the paint.
I also replaced the springs. They were coated with cosmoline. A real heavy grease coating from the manufacturer that is used to temporarily control surface rust. I cleaned them up and painted these first before mounting on the axle. In this picture you can see that this is a new rim and tire too. The one I replaced was scary dangerous looking because of the amount of rust. I have decided that I will buy anopther new one and use the other good rim and tire (that came with the boat trailer) as a spare. Hmmm, I just noticed the mark on the concrete! I'm going to have to talk to wife about her driving again!!

Skip ahead a few steps and I've installed the wood deck. I have 4 flush mounted "D" rings installed here too. I was only planning to install one in each corner, but decided two more in the middle would be nice too. I'll have to go get a couple more now!
I built two jigs so that I could router the wood out production style. About an hour to make the jigs but then it only took me about 20 minutes to do the router work for all 6 pockets.
These are going to be real handy!

I'm going to build sides for the trailer. I have come up with a materials list for the rest of the steel. I'll probably give this a go in the next week. Our family reunion next week end is going to keep me away from the garage and my projects for a while. Hopefully I'll have more to post here in a couple weeks.
Here is a shot with everything finished. And getting some use too.....dirty at least!
