This works well for me because it was really my first choice. The public has spoken....I will paint it Montero Red with a Cameo Ivory top!

This is the wagon the first day at it's new home with us.

It was not home long before I felt the need to install a GTO grill. Well, I found all the parts to replace the grill but that will have to wait now until some repairs have been made to the car.

A couple places will require some welding repairs. This customizing to the dash is one of my favorite. At least repairing it will give me a great deal of satisfaction. I think the previous owner may have had a coupon for a discount on some gauges.....and jig saw blades!

Rather that trying to fill the holes from the guages I decided to look for better parts to weld in. Here I have a replacement dash part from one car and an ash tray assembly from another.

The panel between the windshield and the cowl vent is rusted badly. The black part is the replacement piece that I found listed for chevelles. Strange that it is not listed in any Pontiac vendor catalogs that I have found. The part is cheep enough to justify replacement instead of patching in some repairs.

With the windshield, cowl vent and tirm removed the rust damage is clear.

OK, In order to properly fix the windshield and dash area welding will be the ticket. The dash repair requires the removal of the steering column. The factory dash and guages should also be removed. Gee, I would hate to catch any of the wiring on fire. Where do I start. How about at the beginning?

Maybe I should have just left the guages in. I don't even smoke, what do I need an ashtray for?

Hey, Scott, nice to see you update your Tempest page again. Yes, the Cameo red with white top would look best on that sweet wagon. And don't try to make it a GTO wagon. Let it remain what it is...a nice Tempest Wagon. Regards and hope all's well with you there. Cheers!!! Check out Serino-Hot-Rod member page. He's got a 64 Tempest wagon as well as many other "enviable" rides. Nice guy too from Long Island, NY.

Scott: I'm considering the 65 wagon on ebay right now. Unfortunately it's been GTO-ized, but nothing too serious. A big issue for me is how to get the car from Staten Island to Vancouver Island, and buying it sight-unseen. How difficult has it been for you to get interior parts for your wagon? I'm looking at replacing door panels and hardware as well as headliner. Can you recommend a good shop? Thanks...
