cvx_20's 1991 Mazda Miata Three Mazda spindles. Miata, FC RX-7, FD RX-7. The object here is to find a front spindle that will ease the conversion to 5@4.5" wheel bolt pattern. The FC is very similar in size, but is from a strut type suspension (no upper ball joint)
cvx_20's 1991 Mazda Miata Closer comparison of Miata VS FD RX-7. FD is considerably larger overall, but has the same type of cartridge style bearing. Just bigger. Too big to adapt entire spindle to Miata.
cvx_20's 1991 Mazda Miata Since the bearing configurations are so similar I decided to adapt the Miata bearing shaft to fit the FD bearing. This is modified Miata spindle and bushing to adapt FD hub.
cvx_20's 1991 Mazda Miata Modified VS unmodified

cvx_20's 1991 Mazda Miata Finished product. The offset is exactly the same as original.

Very nice work! I havent seen parts interchanged so well in a long time. Most people dont realize the similarities between companies that share models. I have a story that relates but is too long here. You got my vote with this one come give mine a look and a vote. Thanks

Mike, Great ideas and nice craftmanship! Should be easier to shorten a set of cv axles than it would be to respline the hubs. Can't wait to see how you handle the brake set up. have you seen my DIY V8 page?
